  • Williamson's eyes

So supposedly Troy Williamson has had vision problems. I heard that because of his vision problems he couldn't focus on the ball and the lights sometimes blinded him in the dome. Now that he has had whatever done to fix it does anyone think he will be a better receiver? How sweet would it be if he suddenly torched every D for 140 and a TD? I realize I am just getting myself excited for a big let down but any thoughts on this?
Why can't Chris Doleman be immortal? That's all I want.

Here is what I got from Yahoo.

Update: Williamson has worked with vision specialists this offseason to help him cure problems that resulted in 11 dropped passes last season (which was third most in the NFL), the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. "Now that we know there was something from a visual standpoint, this is like a light bulb coming on for all of us concerned about why he was having difficulty making some catches," his agent David Canter said.

My point is this you know im abit disappointed as everyone is with williamsons development But i see the kid working hard to try to improve. That gives me hope with all the other over rated wide outs runing around holding press confrences telling us how good they are because their play sure as hell doesnt show it. Its actually a bit refreshing to see a kid who needs help just say listen i know i can be better then this and Im willing to do what ever it takes to show it.

Applauds the struggling blue collar guy who atleast admits he has a problem

problem is that his vision isnt the only problem needing to be fixed change those 11 drops to catches and he still didnt have a good season... i still think he is just young and needs more time. He is being put under a tremendous amount of pressure because the vikings are looking to him to carry the load at wideout and become a star. And the reality is that he has really no one on the other side to take some pressure off him and hes only a 2nd year player trying too hard. Typically WR wont produce until 3-4 years in the league so ill be patient with him but i need progress this year 60+ catches 900+ yards 5+ Tds and ill be happy

People, before you make a new thread in this forum, go to the bottom of it, and look for a related thread. We don't need 8 million threads in here. It just makes the forum more cluttered.

Eh, you never know. For all we know Williamson could step up this year. Maybe it was his eyes, but he still dropped a bunch of passes, maybe if we get some consistant QB play he'll be able to get somthing going. Figure he's been here two years and we've had 3 starting QB's. Hopefully he'll have a break out year.

If he is working as hard as everyone says he is, and we get a steady QB, he should have a better year. I hate to rag on a guy if he really is trying and has a legitimate vision problem. It probably didn't help that he got punched in the face by a bouncer at a party after he got drafted. Lucky he didn't have a broken orbital bone or something like that.

I don't understand how another quarterback is going to help Williamson. If anything, it's going to make it harder. Brad Johnson had a terrible year, but he still had his fair share of passes thrown to Williamson that were 100% catchable. And when Brad is on the money, it is a very catchable ball because he has very little arm strength. A quarterback who throws harder is not going to help Williamson.

That might not be true. Its actually alot easier to catch a pass when you just react instead of waiting for it. If we have a stronger-armed QB, the ball gets there faster and the WR shouldn't have to wait on it or be afraid the ball would be underthrown (which BJ did alot). I think he'd have more confidence in a guy who can chunk it 50+ yards downfield and let him use his world-class speed to run under it. Almost all of the ones he drops are the ones where he has to wait on it or adjust because he gets there too fast. I can't remember a single time when a deep ball thrown to him was just out of his reach or thrown too far.

I hadn't thought of that Vikes but you may be right. He might need someone who can stretch long routes to make him use his speed. I want the draft to be tomorrow and the season to start on Monday! I'm ready!
