  • Hmm, yeah I didn't realize what TC was doing until I saw someone post it on BBI. I think Perry Fewell's contract is up. So if you chose not to re-sign someone, it's not getting fired. So he is defending Fewell so he can get another job and doesn't look like we threw him under the bus so he is not disgraced.

So that's why I think he went out of his way to defend Fewell and Quinn. SO that they can get other jobs somewhere. I guess that's a classy way of doing things.

        I'm just following twitter:

"Coughlin does not seem happy with Langsdorf's decision to leave after just one year."

        • Oh, people said that on BBI too, Iwish i heard that. But someone check the Perry Fewell contract. I don't think we need to fire him, because his contract expires, so we just don't re-sign him.

          • Stay positive fellas. No way Fewell is given an extension. Coughlin is in a do or die year. It was right of Mara to say it's TCs decision and it was right of Coughlin to defend his coaching staff. When a new DC is hired they'll say basically the same things they were saying last year and focus on the new scheme.

We went 6-10 there's no way we don't see changes.

There are reports we are looking outside the organisation for his replacement rather than promote someone like Sean Ryan or Craig Johnson.

Does Mike Sullivan become an option?

              • I'm so depressed. Another year of Perry Fewell.

My life sucks. I can't wait to see all that Cover 2 next year. Can't ******* wait.

There is no guarantee about Fewell yet. Coughlin is still doing evaluation. He may not make any decisions until he has replacements lined up.
Coughlin has been supportive of Fewell, but I suspect Coughlin was behind last years offensive shake up.
I am not sure on Fewell's contract situation, I believe he may be off contract. Coughlin did talk about balance on defence, so perhaps Fewell could be back Secondary/Assistant Head Coach with Pepper Johnson or Steve Spagnuolo as DC

I would like to see us replace some positional coaches if we can upgrade, particularly OL, DL and LB

                    • One issue is the big plays..

The theory is C2 off man or zone. Rush 4, drop the rest in coverage keep the play in front of you. This allows the front 4 to get to the QB and force a bad pass or coverage sack because all the zones are covered. That's one theory of defense.

It's not my taste. Force the issue. Now his defenses do get turnovers. Very good, that I like. But the big plays!!!! Your defense is supposed to be with the theory that by rushing 4 everyone else is covered and thus it's either a check down, turnover, small gain, or sack. We give up too many big plays. That kills me. What's worse is his defense gives up big plays AFTER we have a big play on offense.

That's just a small component of why I hate Perry Fewell.. So I went back and came up with this..Here are some big plays. I know all teams give up big plays. That's fine, but we did it in every way! We forgot to cover guys, we did it after our offense had a big momentum changing play. We did it when teams needed it to come from behind.

The miscommunications resulting in big plays.

                      • I think Fewell is a good secondary coach, but we need better play in the front seven.

Talent has been part of the problem, but we also aren't getting the best out of the talent we have.

That's on the coaching staff to maximize talent. Put players in a spot to succeed. Why are there so many miscommunications during his entire tenure? It's almost a punch line now.

Cb looks at safety.. Safety looks at CB.. Both looking at each other as if to say, "hey that's your guy. I was playing this correctly."

Or the scheme is so complex, poor, or whatever you want to label it that a player is WIDE open either in the flat or running through the secondary.

                            Fewell is god awful.

I was thinking about this today. Coughlin is part of the Parcels tree. Parcells developed so many coaches that went on and had success. How about TC? Has he developed anyone?

1 guy, Spags, who went on to be a HC in the NFL. He didn't fair well, but he got a shot. Who else? Hufangel out of the NFL... Lewis got fired in 2006, and hasn't sniffed another coordinator job. He went from Seattle, Panthers, and Atlanta as a secondary coach. Now with Smith fired, he is jobless.. How about Sheridan? He got a job on Schianos staff, and then now is a position coach again. Gilbride for all his success here never got a HCing gig. Will Fewell be a HC or get another DC gig, if fired? Let's see..

Under TC, no coaches ever developed. 1 coach got a chance to be HC. TC has been here more than a decade. That's god awful considering we own 2 SBs, yet no one is poaching our staff.
