  • Here's my prediction for the openning day roster:

    Jose Reyes (SS)
    Luis Castillo (2b)
    David Wright (3b)
    Carlos Beltran (CF)
    Carlos Delgado (1b)
    Ryan Church (RF)
    Brian Schneider (C)
    Angel Pagan (LF)

    Raul Casanova (C)
    Damion Easley (INF)
    Marlon Anderson (OF/INF)
    Endy Chavez (OF)
    Fernando Tatis (INF)

    Johan Santana
    Pedro Martinez
    John Maine
    Oliver Perez
    El-Duque Hernandez

    Billy Wagner
    Aaron Heilman
    Matt Wise
    Jorge Sosa
    Scott Schoeneweis
    Pedro Feliciano

It appears that Brian Stokes is the favorite for the last spot, although I don't like that idea. I prefer Ricardo Rincon or Brady Clark.

Ramon Castro will join the team when he's ready, as well as Duaner Sanchez.

    • Looks right to me Max. I prefer Rincon as well.

      • Does anyone know what are Wright's numbers compared to when he batted earlier in the lineup compared to batting 5th?

          http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi...da03&year=2007

By far he was the best in the 3 spot but he also had 100 more Ab's in that spot.

          • I'm worried about our lineup. I think we need another power-hitting, right-handed OF.

If Delgado doesn't revert back to form then yes we could use another hitter. Hopefully Church 2b's really do develop into more Hr's. It's pretty crazy how our offense suffered so much in 2 years and we have all the same players basically. Then again our pitching should be better this year than it has since the mid 80's to early 90's.

              • Mike Pelfrey was named the 5th starter. Brady Clark made the team over Fernando Tatis. Joe Smith took the last bullpen spot over Stokes.

Wow. Glad to see Pelfrey earned his spot.

I just became a lot more upset about losing Gotay. I'd much rather loose him for Tatis rather then Clark. Tatis can play 3B, 1B, LF. As opposed to Clark who is soley an OF. And it will be interesting to see how Smith does.

                    • I'm pissed. I will be missing opening day due to my own baseball.

                      • Well, I hope Pelfrey and Smith learn to pitch quickly.

But I like this decision. Both El-Duque and Stokes suck and we are better off going with the young guys.

                              • Good win. Hopefully more of this to come.

One bad news today, if you can call it that, is Lastings Milledge hit a HR vs. the Phillies.
