Ya posted the same link twice.

USA today really doesn't know what they are talking about, they wanted us to take a LT in the 2nd round, do they have any names? of course not

Mel Kiper gave us a C also

honestly- im pleased, more so now than i originally was and anybody who gives us a low grade did so because they dont really know what kind of team we are. only giants fans can truly assess.

Id give us a B or a B+ at best- if we addressed oline a little earlier than TE and DT (even tho alford could b great) i would say an A- but the fact is a 3rd round guard or tackle would not start for us most likely where as alford will play a lot and boss will too if he beats darcy johnson

I agree, from an outside perspective, and from people who don't know about the Draft and the teams themselves, they'll give us a bad grade.

For those who do know the Draft, as a lot of people on the forum here do, they'll give us a B, maybe even B+. We filled some of the posistions that costs us games, and we all think Diehl should fill in well at Left Tackle. I think Guy Whimper is doing better than a lot of people think developing at Tackle, according to Jerry Reese.

I'm hopeful this season. I think we can make it into the playoffs this year, and not only that, but we also I think we set ourselves up to have any amazing draft next year - which for a rebuilding team, is absolutely essential.

I'm fairly glad we passed on Staley. He seems like a boom or bust pick to me, and I hate taking those kinds of players. Especially at such a critical posistion like Left Tackle.

I'd personally give us a ranking of B on the way we addressed needs and the quality of the players, but as we all know the draft grades are based on what level player we got at what spot of the draft. A lot of the picks could be considered reaches that we should've tried to trade down for. So take what they think our needs are plus the spots where we took certain players, and that drops our draft grade down to C plus or minus.

This year, for a change, we didn't take a player earlier than expected (except maybe the 3rd round DT). Both the 1st and 2nd filled needs and they went where many expected to.

I think the Giants did very well in the draft up and down and that is tough for me to say. Aaron Ross was a great pick, he was my #2 corner in the draft, and will do his best to be the Santana stopper, lol. Don't know your returning situation but he can make a big impact as well as a punt returner. He is a punishing hitter and a playmaker, his quickness makes up for his lack of straight line speed. Steve Smith was tremendous value but 2 straight years a smallish WR in the 2nd round, I know Toomer is older but not sure the message it sends to Sinorice, although he has to prove something himself. We'll trade him for Brandon Lloyd to form the brothers Moss. Alford is a clogger, Michael Johnson was a tremendous steal, as was Bradshaw to an extent, but I don't really like the Boss pick over Ben Patrick, but he is huge. It wasn't a top draft but I think it was average-good, it isn't a one star for sure.

                  Thank you, Ghetto.

Damn your safety tandem though. I fear for both Sinorice and Steve having to go across the middle now with them lurking in the area. I think our game plan will have to be use Brandon Jacobs in the slot just so he can knock one of them unconcious. Heh.

np, of course Skins get the worst draft grade in the division, but with our limited picks I think we did alright, LaRon Landry, Dallas Sartz, HB Blades(huge steal in the 6th), Jordan Palmer, and Tyler Ecker bleh.

In general I think our division was awful in the draft. Eagles bombed with Kolb although the rest of their draft was nice, While Dallas took Stanback with an early first and took Nick Folk over Mason Crosby. I don't think you can really say any team in the division had a draft to separate themselves.

I don't think a draft can really seperate any team in the division because a draft is more about the future than anything. Even the Browns didn't create any seperation or decrease the seperation between them and the other AFC North teams because none of these guys have done anything on the field yet.

But in terms of rating the drafts....the NFC East certainly was not at the top as a division.

I'd give the giants a B-, but it's way too early to judge.

First off Browns IMO didn't have a great draft. But they did gain some on their division, they lost multiple last second games last year when they just couldn't run out the clock, so with Joe Thomas and Brady Quinn that could easily be 2-3 more wins. A good draft gives a team definite momentum.

Yea, he is just as athletic, but not nearly as noticed. I like the boss pick because he is a good blocker, pretty good in the passing game, and huge, the only downside really is that he didn't play against elite competition. Alford was a great pick because he wants to play for us, those kind of players don't come around often, and he is a good talent and underrated. He led penn st with 8 sacks and had 14 1/2 tackles for loss. Steve Smith was a little bit of a reach, but I am happy with that pick and think he could be our slot WR besides Moss, he is similar to Toomer in the sense that he is reliable and consistant, things that Eli Manning never really had except for Toomer who got injured and probably won't be 100%. He also proved his speed, but the only thing missing is his explosiveness off the line. Aaron Ross is kind of old, but in that time he could've matured physically and mentally. He is a press CB like madison who could teach him technics, he can also return the ball and was compared to Devin Hester. And Winning the Thorpe has to say something with 6 ints. and 19 batted balls. He also makes the tackled before trying to make a play like webster. Michael Johnson might be an eventual steal but needs to be developed. DeOssie kind of upset me because I felt that if Stephen Nicolas from CFU fell we'd take him or Rufus Alexander, or Maybe Earl Everette (who we should look at in FA along with a pick we should've made with Darius walker instead of Bradshaw. Koets is big and has experience, he only sometimes gets pushed back, but if he could help defeat USC with their great D-Line there must be something special.

WE ARE REBUILDING, the reason why they are grading us bad is because we are not thinking of immediate help, by trading up we would've gotten better value but lost youth and potential projects who turn into starters. I think we could've tried to trade down to the Browns and probably still been able to take Ross because his age was a major deterance in the eyes of most NFL Teams, then we could've been able to have two 1st next year probably in the low teens or near 10. I see a great draft for the future.
