What is the expected lineup? As a casual fan i'd like to learn more about the team's players.

I'll take a crack at it, if anyone else disagrees feel free...

    QB- Chad Pennington
    RB- Thomas Jones
    FB- Darian Barnes
    WR- Laveraneus Coles
    WR- Jerricho Cotchery
    TE- Chris Baker
    LT- D'Brickashaw Ferguson
    LG- Adrien Clarke
    C- Nick Mangold
    RG- Brandon Moore
    RT- Anthony Clement

    Other significant offensive players:
RB Leon Washington- will spell Jones and is an excellent playmaker, both as a runner and a receiver
WR Justin McCareins- if not traded, has the size and speed to contribute, but he's better off not starting
WR Chansi Stuckey- quick and a good athlete, if he develops he could make some plays from the slot
WR/Athlete Brad Smith- get the ball into his hands and he can make plays, if he develops more at receiver he could be even more valuable than he was last year, when he proved he was a talented playmaker and was a significant influence as a decoy at times
OL Wade Smith- a versatile lineman, he provides valuable depth at a few different positions

    DE- Shaun Ellis
    NT- DeWayne Robertson
    DE- Kenyon Coleman
    OLB- Bryan Thomas
    ILB- Jonathan Vilma
    ILB- David Harris
    OLB- Victor Hobson
    CB- Andre Dyson
    CB- Darrelle Revis
    S- Kerry Rhodes
    S- Erik Coleman

    Other significant defensive players:
DE Michael Haynes- has the talent to contribute significantly, hopefully he's a better fit for the 3-4 than the 4-3
OLB David Bowens- could take the starting job from Hobson, a converted DE that can rush the passer
ILB Eric Barton- started inside last year, and may not reliquish his job to the rookie Harris. A tough player and good tackler who has been solid for awhile.
CB's Hank Poteat and David Barrett- among a few guys wrestling for a starting job, these two have the best chance to start alongside Dyson if Revis does not earn that honor this year
S Eric Smith- saw some play time last year and did some nice things, and hopefully finds his way on the field more this season

    Specialists:
    K- Mike Nugent
    P- Ben Graham
KR/CB Justin Miller (amazing kick returner that hasn't lived up to his potential at corner, but still has value giving the team fantastic field position consistently)

Sure thing. Again, anyone else can feel free to jump in.

LT Ferguson- The fourth pick in the draft last year, Ferguson didn't step in and dominate the way most expected him to. He was a good, but not great pass blocker and gave up a few sacks. In the run game he was solid in terms of technique, but isn't the kind of guy that's going to blow people off the ball and open up huge holes all by himself. He's solid in that category, but certainly nothing special. It seems that keeping on weight, a problem for him last year, will be key in his development. Since this is only his second season we'll see what happens, but hopefully he improves on last year.

LG Clarke- Clarke is a question mark as he may not even start. I believe there were injury issues in the past and somehow he landed with the Jets, though I could be wrong. At this point he's far bigger than most of our linemen, and a good run blocker. The coaching staff seems to be high on him, and with his size he should be a good fit next to the smallish Ferguson. If Clarke doesn't start, we're probably looking at Wade Smith, a talented and versatile guy who's probably more of a technique/pull guy as he has superior athletic ability to most guards with the ability to play tackle as well. But I'd assume Clarke starts because he's a better fit next to D'Brick IMO and Smith is much more valuable as a backup able to play all 4 guard and tackle spots.

C Mangold- A bit of a pleasant surprise last season, Mangold, the team's other first round pick, was probably the most talented player on the Jets' offensive line. Center is a difficult position to pick up because it includes making line calls and you have to be a sharp guy, but Mangold stepped in as a rookie and did a fantastic job. A good run and pass blocker, Mangold should improve this year and I wouldn't be surprised to see him play at a Pro Bowl level, if not just below.

RG Moore- Brandon Moore is smallish for a guard, really nothing special, but a solid starter. A converted defensive lineman, he's solid as a run and pass blocker, but his size can be a problem at times. As said nothing special but a good starter, he could be upgraded.

RT Clement- Again not a special player, he wasn't great last year and had some problems pass protecting but is a good run blocker and is a decent player. Was re-signed last year so you know the team wants him here. He could be upgraded and again is a liability pass blocking at times but a decent run blocker and will be good enough this year.

Wade Smith as said will either start or be a very valuable backup, and would probably step in if any player other than Mangold went down, and may even go in for Mangold (not sure if he has the ability to play center). Jacob Bender was drafted this year and has talent, he'll probably back up Clement on the right side and may start in the future. If second year players Ferguson and Mangold improve and Clarke steps in and does a good job this could be a solid unit. Could be upgraded in the draft in future years but at this point it's solid enough and they should do a good job this year, better against the pass than the run though IMO.

Jones had an off the field incident and fell into Mangini's doghouse. He was a solid LT but after the drafting of Ferguson his only chance to crack the starting lineup was as a guard, and he was learning a new position. He's lightish but a really good athlete, if he improves and gets out of Mangini's doghouse he's got a chance to either MAYBE start at LG (though unlikely IMO) or be a valuable backup, similar to Wade Smith. He did perform well when on the field though, but needs to improve and has no chance of starting at either tackle spot at this point as he's too light to start on the right side and Ferguson has the left tackle spot locked up.

I was thinking about him at LG as Kendall was also a smaller athletic LG

Yeah, but the thing is we really don't have any big run blockers on the line, which is where Clarke fits in. I think he's a great fit and the coaching staff seems to love him, it's his job to lose.

As far as Bender, I think it's been posted that he's working out at RT, hopefully he ends up being our RT of the future.
