  • 1st round CB

the consensus around the league is that we are looking to take a CB first round, which will depend on our off-season and obviously the flow of the draft.....so, whos the choice?

with leon hall's strong 40 showing, 4.39, he will almost definitely be taken top 20, and possibly even top 10 now, i'm dissapointed beacuse i thought he would have a weak combine and maybe fall to us at 25

now i don't think we have a shot at Hall or Revis, and McCaughley had a good combine cuz i think he ran like a 4.39 or something in that range, so i dont think he will be left by then, and many are now projecting Chris Houston to jump into mid-to-late round 1 so he might not be left either

    so who do we take?
one of those 4 if they are there? if so whats your guys order of those 4?
    and if they are gone?
ross (4.50)? hughes (4.65 and will likely drop majorly due to his horrible combine)? eric wrigth (4.36)? josh wilson (4.39)?

Houston or Mccaughley however i think a guy in the front 7, however any cornerback is gonna struggle if there is no pass rush, so that issue needs to be addressed as well

I like Wright in the first if those guys are gone and we go corner. He seems like a pretty good guy who has learned from mistakes and a very good player. Good size and speed, he could turn out to be a legit corner for us.

We shouldn't be going corner in the first round. I think we need to pick up a 3-4 outside linebacker. Guys like Anthony Spencer, Jarvis Moss, and Quentin Moses or Justin Blalock if he's there. In our second round, we should be looking at cornerback and runningback.

The bigger question to me is why? Why do the Jets need a cornerback so freakin bad? I mean, the Jets don't have the best corners, but I wouldn't categorize them as the worst either. I hear how so and so corner (Hall, McCauley, whomever) will be the solution to the Jets problems at corner, but that is what Justin Miller was supposed to be too. To me, the Jets have bigger needs on the OL and in the front seven.

I agree, I'd probably rather have Blaylock over any CB in the draft besides Hall and MAYBE Revis.

Realistically Houston would be the most likely of scenarios...
              If not a CB then...
              Carriker (IA highly unlikely)
              Blalock
              Sears
              Harrell
              Meachem

Also OLB in the 1st would be a WASTE.. the Jets are going after Bowens from the Dolphins and seem to like him to start (read Tom Rock's column) We are DEEP at LB if they sign Bowens and especially if they don't cut Barton. 1st round LB is like saying we need a 1st round RB (after the trade)
QB, OG, OLB, WR, CB, MLB, RB, FS

Exactly Why The Jets were the Coolest Team in the NFL under Rex, but Bowles is the man-see Arians speech:

He could suck in coverage for all we know, but those are very solid measureables. Is he eligible for the draft? Is he declaring?

"Former Cal Poly cornerback Courtney Brown established some eye-catching marks at the Pro Day held Tuesday at San Jose State. So much so that the NFL Network is doing a feature story Thursday afternoon on the Mustang senior." so i guess more information will come out today, but from what ive seen he seems like quite the stud

Per NFL.com (and I could be a little off with these numbers) he benched 225 15 times, ran a 4.35 and a 4.32 in the 40, and had a 41.5 inch vert at 6'1 3/8 and 200 lbs.

yaa like said before i too dont know much about him in coverage but i think i remember reading that he shut down all the teams top recievers, however none of them were big names

what about Fred Bennett in round 2, our first 2nd rounder? He has good size and he's pretty fast.
