  • 34 NT

Being that i only get the main college games that are televised and dont get scouting tapes or anything i was wondering if you guys know who is the best 34 NT in college football...maybe not playing in a 34 but handles double teams well is a space eater all the usual stuff and not just a massive dtackle but someone who posseses the skills to play the 34 NT...and i was wondering also the buzz on casey hampton when he came out..was he considered a sure thing and that type of stuff basically someone that we will be looking at in the next year or two in the draft.... i hear names like Sedrick Ellis, Glen Dorsey but i have no idea there capability to place NT in the nfl

I don't know who a good future 3-4 NT is, might be a good question to ask in the draft forum. However, I do know that Dorsey is in no way a 3-4 NT,

As a Pac-10 fan, Ellis is good but not great. Ngata from the Ducks last year was far better than him.

A friend of mine who is more of an ACC fan loves B.J. Raji though. He swears that he'll be the nxt great NT in the NFL. I'm looking at his measurables now and he's listed at 6'1" and 337 pounds. I can't recall ever seeing Boston College play though, so I don't know personally.

Ngata was more of a 4-3 tackle though, I think he would have had trouble playing the nose in a 3-4. Looking at the measurables it seems like Raji would be a great potential NT, if his playing style is a good fit I hope we do whatever we have to do to get him whenever he comes out.

          Ngata

Doesn't Baltimore play a 3-4 with Ngata at DT? Or does he play DE?

yaa he played both, which is a tremendous credit to his athleticism..i beleive Kelly gregg played the NT mostly while in the 3-4 and NGata played Dend, but i know he spelled gregg a few times at nose tackle...either way ngata is quite the beast

He was the NT in Oregon's 4-3 scheme though. And he's shown god ability to clog when he needs to in the pros.

Regardless it doesn't matter, Ngata doesn't have anything to do with how we're going to fill our hole at NT, and 3-4 NT requires much more ability to take on blockers and keep leverage than a 4-3 NT would.
