  • Hmm. I don't know. I heard he was a good coordinator before the HC job. At least they're trying to make improvements.

    • This signing of a big name OL coach IMO explicitly indicates the Jets believe they need to address the positions LG and RT. I'm not thrilled or disapointed with callahan but I am pleased with the fact that this is our first big news/signing since the season ended as it shows the team has the priorities straight and knows what they need to change first to become a successful team. At least we know theyre not trying to just use the same OL formula as last year...they need a fresh start which Callahan brings and the fact that he is a big name shows they are willing to go the extra mile pay the extra buck and fix the most important component of any offense.
QB, OG, OLB, WR, CB, MLB, RB, FS

Exactly Why The Jets were the Coolest Team in the NFL under Rex, but Bowles is the man-see Arians speech:

That is the one thing that surprises me the most, becuase as anybody who has gone to a jet game knows woody sure doesn't just give the tickets away. Anyways, this is good news that atleast they understand the number one problem and are already trying to fix it; hopefully they'll be able to give callahan something to work with besides clement and clarke.

I don't get what everyone's problem with this game is.

I hate Eli. And the Giants. Pack vs. Pats would have been great. But they had to ruin it.

But I was given a small bit of comfort in realizing that if the Giants win, it will be hilarious to think how pathetic whiny Tiki will feel.

well 1) the patriots, that's obvious

                2) the Giants, the crosstown rivals with the old, stuck up, unknowledgable fans, we gotta hear from them for 2 more weeks

                3) we had the worst year of our franchise and have a terrible draft pick

                ugggh

                • Seriously, I know Im saying this partially out of bitterness, but I find it funny how a month ago (some) Giants fans are calling for Elis head, and now they act like Eli is god and deny ever disliking him.

I agree with you there. I hated all of the Giants fans who were calling for Eli to leave. It pissed me off because a lot of his mistakes in the past years were due in large part to an injured WR core and horrible play-calling. Yes, he has made his fair share of mistakes, but he has had all of the intangables to be a top-notch QB. But I do agree and I hate the bandwagon Eli fans.

I hear that...I will be unable to live in this city if these guys win; combine that with the sox and the potential celtics and i cannot wait to move soon enough.

Now, onto real jets news. As we have mentioned in here before, the jets signed 11 players to the practice; the player that we talked about who has intrigued me the most is Darnell Bing. We have a few guys that are platooning pretty well at FS and i beleive it has been the play of Elam that allowed Kerry Rhodes to revert to the player he was last year.

Bing has all the size and tools one could ask for in a FS and it seems as though the raiders tried to convert him into an OLB and of course failed. I know there types of guys are longshots, but he was once touted as a 1st rounder (before huff and whitner rose so fast on boards) and dropped due to injuries etc. I think this guy could actually make our roster instead of just being on the practice squad. Let's hear what everyone thinks.

He is one of three players i am interested in seeing next year; Kareem Brown, Justin Miller and Darnell Bing. Let's hear what everyone thinks.

                          • Agreed Bing is quite intriguing, we'll have to see what happens with him. If he gets his stuff together he could potentially be a better version of Elam and compete for a starting spot. Seems like a low-risk high-reward sign to me. He, Brown, Miller, Stuckey, and Smith are all guys I'm going to have my eye on. Kowalewski and Pociask are interesting as well, we'll see how they handle their roles. Also it'll be interesting to see if Drew Coleman ends up developing into a solid #3 corner for us, if he becomes the kind of guy that could contain Welker and other slot receivers that would be key for us. Leon Washington running behind a (hopefully) real offensive line will be interesting as well, as will Clemens' development obviously.

Also, if you guys could post the players Scott has seen us talk to that would be great. For some reason the Senior Bowl homepage hasn't been working for me and I can't see it.

Darnell Bing. Much like C.J. Mosley, someone I wanted the Jets to draft because they fell. He never really panned out for Oakland after he was considered a huge draft steal for Oakland in the fourth round. Best case scenario: Good backup strong safety or inside linebacker. I say inside linebacker because linebacker was where he was moved to in Oakland. Worst case scenario: He gets cut, no fuss, no muss. What I think could happen: Carve a niche as a special teams specialist? Maybe? Possibly? Could be?

I was under the impression that they were trying bing out as an OLB? Not sure, but he only weighs 220 lbs way too light in my opinion. The guy is a huge hitter and i think with his tools he could actually play as a FS if he gets some work on his coverage. I distinctly remember him being called a 1st rounder and on most sites he was gonna be a 1st-2nd rounder; when he dropped to the 4th everyone was talking major steal of the draft, like you said, but oakland decided they would be smart and because the kid could really lay the wood they wanted to make him a LB and use his speed (also they had Huff who they just drafted as well). Well, they didn't like what they saw and like idiots cut him; i was reading about how nolan said he looked impressive physical but he still needs work as a football player. His development will be interesting and he could be one of the very few out of all these guys we bring in that could actually challenge for a starting role.

Also, from watching the senior bowl and agreeing with scott's notes, Carl Nicks looks massive, i am starting to really like him and gosder cherilus.

Also, I just read that Beau Bell was hurt in practice. He looked bad in drills and I am not sure if it was do to injury, but that could hurt his stock, becuase he's leaving on a sour note.
