  • Well, keeping it all together for 5 years would be a pipe dream at best. Howard has maybe 5 years of prime left, and who knows what kind of deal the Phils will have to swallow with him? Burrell has 1 or 2 years left as a productive player. Victorino is probably staying 5 years. Rollins is about 32 and is starting his decline. He has 2 or 3 years left on his contract, and who knows how much he'll command at that time? Myers is a FA after 2009. Hamels needs a new deal. Jason Donald is on the way behind Rollins, and Cardenas is a future Utley clone at 2B. There are no legit 3B prospects out there right now. However, Savery, Carpenter, Outman, and Carrasco should be up within the next 2 years.

    • I guess I need to clarify myself a little better:). If we culd have some of those guys for the next five years, and all of those pitching prospects coming up, we will have a prime htree or four years where we will be a very, very tough team to deal with.

      • Can't blame last nights loss on Kendrick. Total lack of offense.

        • Kendrick did great last night. Big props to him on an awesome outing. Hard to argue with being dominated by Roy Oswalt, though. The guy is awesome.

          • Phillies are just killing it right now. Lots of base runners, 6 R's in 4 innings. I'm liking this.

              • How about Burrell? Some guys wanted his balls last year, but here he is tied for the lead in HRs, and leading in RBIs, all with a very good batting average. I certainly wasn't expecting this out of him by this point of the year.

Over the past 5-6 years, Burrell has been good for a .260 average, close to .400 OBP, 25-30 HR, and 90-110 RBI. Look at his stats. He was always susceptible to certain pitch schemes. Last year around June 15, the light suddenly came on for him, and he had the best half season of his career. It was an unreal second half. He has continued that excellent hitting and patience this year. It is possible he will have a career year in a contract year. Could spell bad news, as he might command a longer deal than he's worth.

                    • Ypu know what, I am going to go out there and say he woud be worth a onger contract, as long as it isn't outlandish like 6 or 7 years. But If we could keep him at the price he is now, I can honestly say it wouldn't bother me.

                      • Tough loss last night. Phils are not in a hole by any means, but it would be nice if they could go an a nice streak.

                        • Phils had a nice clutch win last night. Howard is still ice cold, but Utley is doing well. Eaton had a decent outing. Lidge buckled down as well. Sick slider.

                          • Howard will come around, I have faith in that, but in the meantime, the rest of the team is picking up slack, despite injuries.

                            • Yes, the fact that they are at .500 is quite nice. Again, shooting for a 14 win April. They are 5/7 of the way there...
