  • TerribleEd's Steelers Mock (Nov 25th)

Without giving specifics, let it be known that I have the Steelers trading down in Rd 1, adding a second day one pick, and using it to trade up to get their man in either round 2 or 3 (whichever).

Rd 1: Jeff Otah, OT, Pitt (potentially early second round)

Contrary to some fans belief, the Steelers will not go back to back OL in the 2008 draft, like they did with LB last year. They will, however, use their first round pick on OT, and Jeff Otah is the perfect candidate as the 4th or 5th OT off the board.

Rd 2: Brandon Flowers, CB, VTech

I think he'll declare since this draft is not deep at CB without help from the Juniors. He is having a very good season and is a solid cover guy and plays a physical game. He finished the regular season with 5 INT's. The only thing that drops him to Rd 2 is that he does not have the size that some of the other day one prospects do.

Rd 3: Jordy Nelson, WR, Kansas State

Like Brian Leonard last season, this is everybody's darling for the 2008 draft. Some suggest that he will go higher than this, but I have yet to see any of the "experts" attach him to their short list of elite WR prospects. He may very well be around in the third, depending upon his post season workouts. He is 6-3 with good hands and excellent production at the college level, so he would be an excellent choice for Pittsburgh.

Rd 4) Jameel McClain, 3-4 OLB, Syracuse

Although the Steelers will have two solid starters at OLB next season in LaMarr Woodley and James Harrison, depth will be needed, especially if and when Clark Haggans is let go. McClain led the Big East in sacks as a first-year DE his Junior year (9.5), but does not have such impressive numbers this year partiallty because he has played MLB as well.

Rd 5) Kory Lictensteiger, C/G, Bowling Green

More O-line help. His flexibility as a Center or a Guard is a plus. He'll be able to retain his college number once Max Starks is cut loose!

Rd 6) Traded for Allen Rossum

Rd 7) Jerome Felton, FB, Furman

A complete FB who blocks, runs, and receives.

I'm pretty sure Allen Rossum was only a 7th rounder.
