  • Stillers post combine mock and last till April :)

So I'm thinking, we have OL Woes, but is anyone going to be able to step in immediately?

I'm figuring that Albert and Williams Realistically can go pre-20 pick overall and I've just been thinking of what to do in that sense.

    I'm thinking we sign:

Max Starks (LT) ~ Starter at LT.
    Jacob Bell (LG/C) ~ Start either LG(Colon/Stapleton @ C) or C (Simmons/Colon/Kemo battle for starting spots)
Randy Starks (DE) ~ Starter at RDE, Keisel drops to 275 as a passrusher/Jumbo OLB.

With Albert/Williams off the board, we trade down with Green Bay to maximize our draft choices.

    1) Quentin Groves, ROLB, Auburn ~ 6'3" 260lbs 4.57

    http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/37/378298.jpg

Groves impressed me. I knew he had natural speed, but with long arms and the strength to throw up 30 reps. We haven't had an elite speedy edge rusher since Lloyd left. Groves needs to work on playing the run a bit better and who better to learn from than the best run stuffing 3-4 OLB in the game? He's being compared Widely to DeMarcus Ware for that elite explosion. With a year to learn LeBeaus scheme he could be a monster. With Albert/Williams gone, Otah being as raw, and as good an athlete as Groves around, have to get him. 3 LBs in the first two rounds of the past 2 years may appall some people, but we added Starks and Bell in FA. He looked too stiff to play 3-4 OLB, but he's pretty fluid but after a year in the scheme, Woodley and Groves on the edge will be the best set of passrushers in the league (Pretty bold, but I'm hardpressed to find any better duo's.. Osi+Kiwi? Jenkins+Kampmann?)

Groves blows past Kansas State LT

    Groves has strength too!

    2) Brandon Flowers, CB, Virginia Tech ~ 5'9 6/8" 183lbs 4.58

The image “http://www.techsideline.com/football..._04_small.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Flowers is definitely faster than his 40 time would indicate on field. He came in a little smaller than expected. But you won't find a more physical corner in the NCAA. Some say his counterpart Macho Harris is. Though I'd like to have both (adding Harris in 2009), right now we need Brandon. He's basically the better DeShea. Fast, great hands, physical, explosive, 3 year knowledge of zone coverage and willing to play the run.

Brandon Flowers, master of "Hit and run"

    He really loves to hit

    More Flowers

    3a) Red Bryant, LDE/NT, Texas A&M ~ 6'4 1/8" 318lbs 4.98

The image “http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...71V4J3C.1.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Bryant is a big, physical and fast defensive lineman. He has the size to play 3-4 DE and 3-4 NT. He's a run stuffing presence who reminds me of Aaron Smith. When Smith was injured this past season, our defense, specifically run defense fell apart. Same at Texas A&M. He missed 5 games and their Rushing yards per game average ballooned from 75.35 ypg to 229.2 ypg. Freshman year teams averaged 1.85 yards per carry when the play was directed at him, As a Senior that number has dropped to .63 yards. I think getting him on the edge at strongside DE will allow him to utilize his strength and also equally important, his athleticism. I have dreams of Woodley, Smith and Bryant manning up the strong side of this defense. Not to mention he can play 4-3 NT as a pass rusher, allowing Hoke/Starks to play the 3 Tech while Keisel and Smith man the edges.

    3b) Jordy Nelson, WR, Kansas State ~ 6'2 5/8" 217lbs 4.48

    http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2007/football/.../p1_nelson.jpg

Nelson is a bit of an enigma. Just watching him play I like the idea of using him as the future behind Hines Ward. He's bigger, physical, Can play St's, is above average speed wise, and has great hands/body control. Whats not to like? Also has a cannon of an arm.

    Jordy Nelson Destroys Aqib Talib

    Jordy Nelson destroying everyone else

    Jordy Nelson catches EVERYTHING

He can return Kicks too!!!! (Against Texas as well)

    4) Jonathan Goff, ILB, Vanderbilt ~ 6'2" 245lbs 4.63

    http://www.insidevandy.com/drupal/fi...S14.inline.jpg

Goff is a downhill ILB with solid coverage speed and good size inside the 3-4. He knows how to defeat blocks and make plays like he would have to in a 3-4 because he has really no talent in front of him. He needs to add lower body bulk, but he looks like Farrior. Sideline to sideline speed, shrugging off OL and just the way he hits the QB.

Jon Goff Likes to hit people Too

    5a) Jeremy Zuttah, G/C, Rutgers ~ 6'3 2/8" 303lbs 4.99

    http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...uckerPunch.jpg

Athletic and very strong RT from Rutgers who is being looked at as a G/C product. At this point we have Mahan, Simmons, Colon, Kemo, Bell and Stapleton inside. Bell could take LT if Zuttah/Staple are ready. Bell could take C and let Simmons @ LG & Colon/Kemo at RG. Gotta keep building the OL.

    5b) Dexter Jackson, WR/RS, Appalachian State ~ 5' 9 2/8" 185lbs 4.37

Dexter is a kid that can catch anything. He has the potential to be an elite returner. He's also a pretty talented WR. The more I watch him, I see Welker. Small, quick, great burst off the snap, great hands. good routes and the ability to cut in and out of routes very quickly

    Speed, Hands and 6 points!

    6) Curtis Johnson, OLB, Clark Atlanta ~ 6'2 5/8" 242lbs 4.69

    Curtis Johnson

Johnson is a guy that I've only read about, but everything I've read has been positive. Strong, athletic, but raw. I think In our system he could play behind Woodley and develop to be a pass rushing specialist.

Johnson is perhaps one of the biggest sleepers in this year’s draft. He was not considered a prospect after last season but has burst out of the gate with 18 TFL and 9.5 sacks. When watching him you notice his high motor and how it never stops. He is an effort player who loves to play the game. He has shown tremendous pursuit, field awareness, and a knack for creating turnovers. His athletic ability will get him to the NFL but his speed, motor, and ability on special teams will be what helps him make it. His lack of ideal height for a DE will hurt him but his speed could help him move to OLB.

    UDFA:

    Paul Smith, QB, Tulsa ~ 6'1 2/8" 208lbs 4.94

Jehuu Caulcrick, RB, Michigan State ~ 6'0 254lbs 4.7 (Lose 10-20 lbs and get in the 4.5s)

    Alley Broussard, RB, Missouri Southern ~ 6'0 234lbs 4.65

    Mike Peterson, FB/TE, Northwest Missouri State ~ 6'2 245lbs 4.52

    Mike Mulligan, TE, Maine ~ 6'5 262lbs 4.82

    Andrew Bain, G/C, Miami ~ 6'3 2/8" 325lbs 5.02

    DeMetrius Bell, OT, Northwestern State ~ 6'5 303lbs 4.97 (only 18)

    J.T. Mapu, LDE, Tennessee ~ 6'3 295lbs 5.08

    Bryan Mattison, RDE, Iowa ~ 6'2 7/8" 290lbs 4.07

    Derek Lokey, NT/SYFB/DE/LS, Texas ~ 6'2 298lbs 5.01

    Titus Brown, LOLB, Mississippi State ~ 6'2 4/8" 246lbs 4.72

    Andy Studebaker, ROLB, Wheaton ~ 6'3 255lbs 4.55

    Jeremy Leman, LILB, Illinois ~ 6'1 248lbs 4.80

    Anthony Hoke, RILB, Cincinnati ~ 6'1 234lbs 4.57

Brandon Carr, CB, Grand Valley State ~ 6'0 205lbs 4.44

    Orlando Scandrick, CB, Boise State ~ 5'10 192lbs 4.32

Haruki "Kamikaze" Nakamura ~ 5'10 196lbs 4.45 (My favorite player in the draft)

    Chris Hemphill, SS, Central Washington ~ 6'5 235lbs 4.52

    Yeah, I play WoW too.[/CENTER]

Yeah for at least a year, and then harrison might eventually move inside to take place of farrior or foote, the opposite of which Timmons takes over for next year. Timmons will probably beat out Foote this year, and then next year harrison will take over for farrior, and then Groves and Woodley would be our OLBs.

      OLB: Groves
      ILB: Harrison
      ILB: Timmons
      OLB: Woodley

That looks pretty damn good to me! :)

        1.

Harrison is 30 and we have no one to replace Farrior at Buck.

While I think Harrison is a Pro-Bowler at ROLB.. I think he could be all pro inside. His strength and tenacious tackling are things Inside Linebakcers are made of.

You allways want to trade down. If Albert or Williams isn't there who would you take with our first round pick without trading down and what does your big board look like?

          And why will.....

          Orlando Scandrick, CB, Boise State ~ 5'10 192lbs 4.32

          Go undrafted?

I would rather have an Adarious Bowman, DJ Hall, Keenan Burton, Eddie Royal or maybe even Jerome Simpson the kid out of Coastal Carolina.

What is your issue with Nelson?

He's big, fast, physical, great route runner, great hands and is a KR/PR as well.

He's much better than Bowman and Hall. Burton I'm iffy on.

I don't need Royal because I grabbed Dexter Jackson in 5. Jerome Simpson is a slower Nate Washington. They rave about his hands being so big, but he still drops passes.

What is your issue with Nelson. I've never seen a guy outside of Calvin Johnson make half the catches he does.

More physical and reliable than Bowman.

Personally, I wouldn't touch Cherilus at 23 with a 10ft pole. He's strictly a RT and not worth the selection at 23. I'd rather the "slow" and "short" Brandon Flowers, even though he's probably a 2nd rounder now.
