  • Steelers would like to keep Faneca?

I was reading the team page on Fox sports today, and they made it seem like the Steelers really want to keep Faneca. I hope it is true.

I almost feel like he's going turncoat on the organization just because the guy he wanted as coach didnt get the job. He's being as close-minded as some of the people on these boards by not being open to the new coach. Its really quite sad because he seemed to be the epitome of a "Steelers kind of guy" who cares more about the game and his team than how much money he's making and who's in charge. I would have expected it from some other guys before Faneca.

I have to disagree. He was asked his opinion and he's always given it, and been blunt.

              "No, would anyone?" - Faneca

The media is starved for Steelers material because honestly, we're the biggest fan-base and the most die-hard fans. This offseason there wasn't a lot of material because, no one knows how to talk and get nuggets of info from Tomlin like they did Cowher.

Frankly I think it's been in their plans all along to re-sign Faneca, and I think they'll still have plenty to re-sign Ben and Troy.

When you think about it. Next season...

We'll lose Tuman, Haggans, Wilson... this year we're cutting Gardocki and probably Okobi. Simmons probably will be looking for a new team after this season...

thats a lot of Veteran cuts that's going to give us a good amount of cap room..

Not to mention if we drop Kirschke, Kriedwaldt...

That will leave us with a lot of money to sign guys long-term.

              Yeah, I play WoW too.[/CENTER]

I hope your right. It sounds logical can anyone figure out how much cap money we would have if we cut all these guys.

Faneca is a true Steeler. Tough, plays every down. Never gets hurt. Calls people out when they need it, and very loyal. That is where the problem comes in. He is/was loyal to his coaches. They didn't get the promotion. It bothers him, and it should. We all get mad when highly thought off ass. coaches leave. But yet, when it came time to hire a new head coach, we went outside the org. Why would any coach, who wants to be a head coach stay? History says the Steelers will not hire you.
Besides, the Cards are having a much better off season than we are.

sometimes thats good. I mean, When Noll came in.. he fired everyone and built his team. Cowher did the same thing on some levels. Tomlin kept the defense mostly intact, and promoted Arians. I can understand his frustration. But this is how the steelers FO brought this team from the laughing stock of the league to an every year contender.

The Cards had a pretty bad offseason in my opinion.

They signed Morey, Bailey and Gandy. They reached for Levi Brown, traded up for Alan Branch... then they drafted a way undersized and weak MLB, a slow KR Specialist, and Ben Patrick....

I don't mind the coaches that wanted to be head coaches leaving. Thats unnecessary tension between the Head Coach and that coach... Frankly.. As much as I liked Whiz.. They don't like offensive minded coaches at the helm, and Russ Grimm, though I liked him, he never really developed any talent.

That undersized LB is BIGGER than Timmons! Brown and Branch will be multi time Pro Bowlers. The same can't be said for Timmons and Woodley. Breaston is a great return man. But he is a bad WR. Funny how that happens though..... Patrick is a 7th round steal. He is about equal to Spaeth. Morey was our ST captain, now he will help the Cards. Plus they hired 2 good coaches, and we don't know. Tomlin may be good, but Arains Sucks!

                            Arians sucks because he's different.

Buster Davis is 5'10 240lbs, Timmons is 6'1 235lbs... depends on your definition of Bigger.

Brown and Branch aren't a lock for Pro-bowls yet, because frankly... Woodley Abused Brown at PSU, and frankly, we can't give rookies a pro-bowl future if they haven't even had a solid NFL Season yet (Robert Gallery? Tony Mandarich?). Breaston is a solid return man, but agreed, a bad WR.. Patrick is no where near on the same level as Spaeth or he would've been taken in the 3rd as well. Patrick was overhyped right before the draft because I remember we all had him in the 6th/7th round of our mocks until the last month he suddenly skyrocketed to day 1... Matt Spaeth was hands down the best blocker in this draft. He's 6'7 270... Patrick is 6'3 260.. he's not nearly the red zone threat and he's not on Spaeths level as a blocker.

Again, Woodley didn't play against Brown. Brown was PSU's LT, Woodley was Michigan's LDE. Woodley played aginst avery teams weaker pass blocking T, the RT. Biggs was the RDE for Michigan last year. He is the one who went up against Thomas, Staley, Brown, Boone, etc.......... The only good T's that Woodley played against were Same Young of ND(a true freshman) and Barton of OSU.
