Don't really believe too much Clayton saids, but I would love Taylor for the right price. Big, physical, blazing speed, and one of the better CBs in run support you'll find. We'll probably have to offer more that what the Steelers will but I like the fit.
Would love to add Ike. Rotoworld thinks he will be asking between $6-7 million per year which I could see SF easily paying. Not a bad corner class for free agency.

The consensus around Pittsburgh is that Ike is top-priority. He has said himself that he sees himself as a Steeler. With that said, Kevin Colbert and the Steelers have a history of letting guys walk once they hit a certain age and dollar mark. The thought is that the closer the number gets to $10 million, the less likely he'll be a Steeler.

      • Appartently Alex Smith has paid for at least one 49ers player to attend organized practice. Alex paid for Ronald Johnson's flights to and from the Bay area.

Due to the ongoing lockout, sixth-round draft picks like him have very little money in their pockets. So Johnson stayed in the home of former USC teammate Taylor Mays. Meanwhile, Smith, who is technically a free agent, sprung for Johnson's flight back and forth from his home in Muskegon, Mi.

Say what you want about Smith but that gesture is LEGIT leadership.

            • Free-agent Alex Smith threw some of the passes. Niners backup David Carr threw some. Even second-round draft pick Colin Kaepernick got into the swing of things, although he seemed to do more listening than throwing.

                    • Colin looks a little fat in the stomach in one of those pictures. Could be a good thing since it will just be harder to bring him down

Looks are deceiving. Here's a pic of him taken on draft day...

                          • What are the odds Crabtree makes it to through training camp? He has never done anything to make it appear he wants to be a member of the team whether it be hold outs, opt out language, dogging it in camp with "injury", putting in half-assed effort on the field, etc. His teammates don't seem to like him with Davis wanting to stomp a mudhole in his ass last year and now Alex Smith not defending his absence from their workout sessions.

Does he have any value to any other team? What options are there in a brief free agent period before training camp if he gets cut/traded for used practice socks?

I hate to say it but Crabs is the niners best WR right now. Im hoping that his lack of production was due to Alex Smith not really looking for him and that Harbough will correct that.
Meanwhile a team like Green Bay has two if not three WRs better than Crabby patty

                              • When you throw the ball to a receiver and it looks like he's playing dodgeball, it's best to check to the next target.
