  • Patriots, Brady 'far apart' in contract negotiations?

Is there trouble brewing in the contract negotiations between the New England Patriots and superstar QB Tom Brady?

Yahoo Sports reported that there is a "growing sense of disconnect" between the Patriots and Brady's representatives as the sides try to hammer out a deal to keep the three-time Super Bowl winner in New England.

Brady's deal -- like that of four-time MVP Peyton Manning of the Colts -- is set to expire at the end of the 2010 season. He declined comment to Yahoo for the story, but the site reported that there have not been substantial talks between the sides on a new contract.
    OH NOES. . .

Don't worry, there's no way that Brady won't get a new contract in NE.

Haha. Apparently Michael Silver is the "source" for this non-story.

              Cue media tailspin in 5 . . . 4 . . .

Ok, let's read this nonsense with a bit more attention to the details (or lack thereof) and break it down.

Here's the original article by Silver.

He reports a "a growing sense of disconnect between the two camps" and then goes on to cite . . . who?

Nobody gives him any usable quotes. He lists zero sources - not even the ever elusive (and total BS) "anonymous sources" - yet he goes ahead and paints a picture of disconnect and discord. Fine work there.

Didn't the Pats sign Mike Teel? They must be afraid of losing Brady to sign the future greatest QB in the NFL.

The Broncos released Tom Brandstater. We should sign him as a backup plan.
