    Jagodzinski Dismissed
    Sep 03, 2009 -

The Buccaneers announced today that they have dismissed Offensive Coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski.

Quarterbacks Coach Greg Olson has been promoted to offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach.

Jagodzinski was named the Buccaneers offensive coordinator on January 29, 2009. He came to Tampa Bay after two years (2007-2008) as the head coach at Boston College. Prior to his stint at Boston College, Jagodzinski served as the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers in 2006 and spent the two seasons (2004-2005) prior to that on the staff of the Atlanta Falcons.

Olson joined the Buccaneers as quarterbacks coach in 2008 and was retained when the team promoted Raheem Morris to head coach. Olson previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions in 2005 and the St. Louis Rams from 2006-07. He has also previously served as the quarterbacks coach for the Lions, Chicago Bears and San Francisco 49ers.

Head Coach Raheem Morris was set to address these moves at a press conference at One Buccaneer Place at a time to be announced shortly. That press conference will be carried live on Buccaneers.com.

And the hits just keep on coming!?!....to say I'm stunned doesn't do this news justice, WTF is going on at 1 Buc!?!

    2 things,

1st: Love your sig. Stovall is a beast
2nd: This is f*cked up. The guy had a great job at BC and now he gets fired before the season even starts. And its not like he had anything whatsoever to work with

    Saints 2014 draft wish list:
    - No pass rusher till the fourth round (or preferably at all)
    - Corner or Wideout in the first
    - No reaching
    - No Kelvin Benjamin

just saw this on the front page of Yahooo Sports...I'm shocked. I can't imagine it's anything more than Jags not getting along with one of the higher ups.

Maybe he wasn't on board with Sandwich being named the starter. Things aren't looking up in TB this year.

If we have entered the sweepstakes for anyone it is not because we canned our offensive coordinator...

Do you guys really think he could be the difference between say 4-12 and 8-8?

Instability, a perfect environment for developing a rookie QB. I suppose it could be better that it happened now rather than later, but still concerning.

LOVE Stovall. He's a completely different player for us than he was at ND though. Way more athletic and physically dominant. At ND I remember he was Mr. end zone jump ball while Shark got all the other stuff.

Also...yeah. It's not his fault the passing game sucks with Leftwich missing wide open receivers...receivers who happen to be Brian Clark, Sammie Stroughter, Kelly Campbell and Cortez Hankton.

Yep....gotta be political, hopefully involving the starting QB mess (Jagz is smart enough to favor McCown).

I would've liked having the HC who helped Matt Ryan became a top 3 pick coach Freeman, but oh well.

                .........................

As you guys already know I'm a huge Jagz supporter. This moves makes no ******* sense. Our offense looked good so far this preseason. I liked the playcalling and the ZBS running looked good. We had the right mix of short, intermediate and deep passes. It was like Gruden++.

I don't see what Greg Olson can possibly bring that Jagz can't.

Anyways this team is in a mess and my mind is filled with negative and pessimistic thoughts.

                I LOVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Pewter Report Insider are reporting that he left because of lack of experience and a lack of sophistication to his offense.

Apparently he has had very little to do with play calling and it was largely done by Steve Logan (who is our RB coach now) at Boston College.

Its not losing him that is the big problem, its that the coach felt it was needed. It seems dysfunctional without a good enough reason. Its not like in Buffalo where the offense completely stunk in the preseason or in KC where Haley can run the offense. Its jsut so weird.

Lack of experience is not a reason to fire someone. You know the guys experience when you hired him. Sophistication I can see to some degree, but shouldn't Morris have know all about the offense Jags wanted to install a long time ago? Didn't he approve it?

After a lots of practices and preseason games it should just come down to is the offense effective or not. Do you feel its not doing what you expected it should. Basically, how has it been doing. Another reason is if you feel the offense is good, but someone else can do a better job running it and play-calling.

Bucs Rule went into this a bit.....but WTF? Did we not interview the guy and check into these things before we hired him?

This move is really sloppy. I can buy that Jagz isn't a playcaller and Logan ran the offense at BC but this is something we should've discovered PRIOR to hiring him.

I was happy with the sophistication of the offense as well. Gruden's offense with ZBS running and more deep passing. It's an NFL offense and it seemed like we had the right personnel for it.

It's probably BS but to me it feels like we fired him because he's too good so we have a better chance at tanking in a "rebuilding year". Again, highly unlikely but that's the way I feel right now.
