  • Chris Draft

We had a visit with him on Monday, and looks like we have another scheduled for Thursday:

The Bucs have a visit scheduled for Thursday with Panthers free-agent linebacker Chris Draft and their interest in Broncos free-agent guard Cooper Carlisle may be on the rise as well.
    -- Tampa Tribune

I think Draft provides outstanding depth, and Carlisle would challenge for a starting job. He may not be overly talented, but Denver linemen are well-coached.

Isn't Chris Draft 31 years old? Does it really put the Bucs in that much better of a position than they are currently in to sign him, shouldn't Ruud start and atleast see if he is capable and try to get the team younger?

Barrett Ruud will be our starter, this is a depth move.

Zach Piller visited yesterday, and he is another big veteran presence at G. I would prefer Carlisle but he hasn't visited yet, and Piller has.

First and foremost Ruud should win the starting job. Once he's done that then the team can see if he is capable. Ruud shouldn't just start.

I wouldn't mind it if he is going to back up Ruud

I havent been very impressed with Ruud thus far, he seems like he needs to gain some size or something

I would like Draft to come in here, or draft a ILB

Ruud is 6'2 241, and you don't know what you're talking about, he's fine.

If anything he just needs to fine tune his tackling style, but fortunately that can be coached.

Dude have you ever seen him play? Draft has sucked his whole career. Remember when Atlantas defense was pathetic as could be back when the divisions realigned? That was with DRaft at MLB. Draft is not even backup material. He is stiff, the only thing he does halfway decent is come downhill. He cant go sideline to sideline and he is a big liability in pass coverage. He is a poor mans Nate Webster

He hasn't been signed yet, but last year he had 107 tackles and 5.5 sacks as Morgan's replacement.

Draft is a bad idea that would just mean adding another player that would be over thirty..i don't think we would like that. would we ???.I would like to draft and inside linebacker preferably Brandon Siler from Gators...he could quickly learn from June and Brooks even Quarles, and he is very athletic.

He has already been signed so it doesn't matter

I think Quarles might actually be coming back for another season, because we should've signed an ILB already if he isn't. If we sign a decent backup, we conserve another draft pick.
