  • My roommate goes to Elrod (Titans & Kenny's doc) for his knee also. He saw Kenny in the office a couple weeks ago when he was in Nashville and said Kenny told home was doing fine, but he didn't go into specifics. I woulda tried to get more of an answer, but he's not a Titans fan like me.

      • Much as I'd like to have DeCastro or any other interior OL prospect, I'd be floored if we took one in the first two rounds. At this point I think it's much much much much more likely we go DE, LB, DT, or even WR.

My personal opinion is we need a pass rusher in the worst way. Do whatever it takes this offseason to get someone who can threaten an offense off the edge. By far our biggest hole on D.

We need another starting DT badly as well. Sen'Derrick Marks started Sunday. That's all you need to know.

        • I think looking at the general picture, we are going to go BPA at the positions we need most, the front office will probably have some options at each pick and when it arrives, the BPA will be picked.

          • I've been thinking it's gonna take an elite talent for them to take an OL early, and normally I'd agree that they'd wait to take a guy later, since they've shown they'll opt to take a flyer on someone in the middle to late rounds and develop them. Plus, considering the pass-blocking, sans probably the past few games, has been exemplary, why mess with a good thing?

But I think this year could be different because they'll have to mess with the pass-blocking anyway since Leroy Harris and Jake Scott are FA's. The most recent year we took an OL early was Roos back in '05. We took him in the early 2nd (which was apparently a reach for him, but that was before my time), and we had to because Fred Miller just left in FA, and we had no one at RT. Not to mention Brad Hopkins was ancient and only had a year left, which probably factored into drafting Stewart later on. Roos had the talent to be our immediate starter at RT, and we had the time to develop Stewart to start the next season at RT so Roos could take over for Hopkins at LT.

Now we're in a similar situation. But instead of missing one guy at a more important position, we'll be missing two guys at lesser spots. And do we really want Velasco to start? The guy is a good backup, but he couldn't beat out anyone on our terrible interior. The only option behind drafting a guy talented enough to start immediately would be bringing in a guy via FA. Which would be fine with me, but will they spend the kind of money needed for the likes of Nicks and Grubbs when they can take a better talent in DeCastro for cheaper? And even if we sign a guy, we'll have to draft someone for the other side.

It just makes more sense for this year being the year we actually take an OL early. The only other option is we could sign a top tier FA, sign a 3rd tier FA for a year, and then draft a midround OG to develop to take over for the 3rd tier FA, which again would be fine with me.

I totally agree about DE though, but I worry about some of the guys this year. I think Melvin Ingram may be my favorite. Out of him, Delvin Taylor, and Jadeveon Clowney, it's Ingram that gets the double teams. Quinton Coples's stock is falling, and even then he's a 4-3 LE that looks like he takes plays off. I think it's just the scheme, but Whitney Mercilus looks hella streaky and sometimes isn't even the first guy off the line, and a lot of his sacks seem, I dunno, fortunate (Michael Buchanan across from him looks good too). Other guys may not fit our scheme to avoid being 3rd down specialists.

And Marks has kinda been a surprise. Not that he's playing well, but that he's not looking completely useless out there. I'd still prefer Jason Jones went 50/50 on his snaps at LE and UT. His athleticism looks completely negated at end.

            • I love Melvin Ingram. Vinny Curry is interesting, as is Mercilus, but on those two I'm just going off of scouting reports. Ingram I've seen a ton of.

                  • I honestly thing if CJ can keep playing at a level near what he was against Tampa we can go 4-1 and make the playoffs, the Texans having Yates or Delhomme is going to MASSIVELY hamper them making the playoffs. We have to capitalize on this opportunity, once you are in the playoffs anything can happen. SUPERBOWLZZZZZZZ.
