  • Hello ... Long time no see.

Well, I've been reading some of the posts about next season and who we want to target in FA and the draft.

Personally, I prefer Dwayne Jarrett to Ted Ginn. I'd like a big, reliable receiver who can go up and fight for the ball as opposed to Ginn who is simply a speedster. VY is not the most accurate of QBs; we all know that. Why not reward him with a guy that can make spectacular catches, especially in the clutch?

Another thing ... Asante Samuel is a cornerback, not a safety -- at least when I've seen him play. He's also listed as a corner on the Patriot's depth chart on their home page. Maybe I'm missing something ... Anyway, he's probably #1 on my wish list. If not Samuel, then probably Nate Clements. I figure we can draft a WR, DE, or FS in the first round of the draft, but I'd rather get a veteran corner to go with Pac.

As for the DEs, I think I'd rather have a run stuffer like Justin Smith as opposed to Dwight Freeney. I mean, I'd rather have Freeney if they were the same price, but you know Smith will be a lot cheaper and won't be a liability to the run. Furthermore, if we shore up our defense as a whole, we can start blitzing again ... what a concept! We won't need Dwight Freeney if we have Cortland Finnegan and Chris Hope in the QB's face.

This is my uninformed fan's wishlist, ala MicktheGreat:

    Draft:

    Round 1: Dwayne Jarrett
Round 2: best safety available (Landry, dude from UF, etc.)
Round 3: best OL available (I don't care what position; give me another Jacob Bell)

    Free Agency:

    Asante Samuel -- Corner
    Justin Smith -- Defensive End
Adalius Thomas -- Middle Linebacker (he'd be a monster!)

    Projected defensive starters:

KVB, Haynesworth, Robaire, Justin Smith -- Line
Thornton, Adalius Thomas, Bulluck -- LBs
Pacman, Hope, 2nd rounder, Asante Samuel -- Secondary

    Projected offensive starters:

Roos, Bell, Mawae, Olson, Stewart -- Line
    Givens, Jarrett -- WR
    Troupe, Scaife -- TE
    Henry, LenDale, Hall -- backfield
    VY -- QB

***Note*** Safeties always slip in the draft. Look at Darnell Bing last year. We almost got him in what? The fourth? I'll bet we could get a nice safety in the second round. Plus, it's an easy position to play as a rookie. Heck, even Tank Williams played well his rookie season, not to mention Polamalu, Sean Taylor, Ed Reed, and any other rookie safety who gets a chance to play. But who knows? Maybe Calvin Lowry plays to the level where we don't need a safety. Either way, Lamont's time has come and gone. It's time to move in a new direction.

Well, it was fun posting again. Maybe I'll hit up the boards in early April! See ya ...
"A lot of people say this and say that about us, but that’s a good thing. We want to keep it low, and we don’t want all the hype going with the Tennessee Titans. We want to just keep it low. Y’all just keep talking about us, talking bad about us, so we can just continue to go out there each week and show the whole world what type of football team we are." -- Vince Young

T-minus 1 year until the beginning of the Titans Dynasty!

I would be happy with DJ or Ginn, IMO we need a pass rusher at DE not a run stuffer, we haven't been able to get any pressure this year, i agree with a FA CB, i don't think Landry or Nelson will be there in the second round, Right i think we should leave Tulloch as are starter at MLB.

        • like I said earlier we will probably pick up Asante Samuel, Charles Grant, and Ken Hamlin. That will allow us to draft Ginn in the first and the best DE in the 2nd.

                • Looks like you boys got a stud at QB for years to come. Young has really shocked the NFL world by his play and alot of people didn't expect for him to do this, including me. Congrats.

                  • Wow, oh, wow. I'm a believer, people. I didn't like his chances at the pro level but VY has proved me wrong time and time again. Glad I have my VY jersey. :)
The whole world loves neophyte athletic tight end Jimmy Graham from Miami with the 95th pick. "Best pick in the draft,'' one AFC coach told me. "Give him time, and in that offense, he'll be better than [Jeremy] Shockey by the start of next year.''

“We know that no matter the adversity, be it the lockout, be it the suspension or be it a hurricane, our men will pull together and defend the honor of this city. We’ve shown we’ve been able to do that.” - Jabari Greer
