      Thoughts?
Mike Iupati is a great pick, especially considering you guys traded down and got him (or maybe I'm mistaken.) Chad Jones isn't one of my favorites but I guess he's at a position of need. Gerhart might be good in Pittsburgh, and you got some nice picks overall after him. I especially like the fifth rounders you made. Very nice job!

      • The Vikings are done. Here is how it went down.

First Round: Dan Williams, DT, Tennessee
Second Round: Colt McCoy, QB, Texas
Third Round: Pick traded for Dawan Landry, S
Fourth Round: Pick traded to move up to get Dan Williams
Fifth Round: Brian Jackson, CB, Oklahoma
Comp Fifth: Reggie Stephens, G, Iowa State

Our main target this draft was Dan Williams. Defensive tackle isn't our biggest need, but after having so many great years with Phat Williams, we understand the importance of a dominant defensive line, so we made a trade up to insure us getting our man. Very content trading a 4th and a 5th to make sure he was on our team. Our next biggest target was Colt McCoy. We felt that we could not get out of the draft without addressing quarterback. We assume Favre is coming back, but I'm not trying to watch Tavaris start another year for us, so we took Colt who will start for us in a year or two. He will be exceptional in our West Coast, we feel. Next, we needed to upgrade safety. There was jack **** available at the end of the third, and the opportunity came up to trade for Dawan Landry. Landry is a solid starter in this league, and is an upgrade over whatever **** we have on our roster now and definitely better than whatever **** we could have taken in the third. Plus, we got our fifth rounder back. Next, we got Brian Jackson. Cornerback depth was another focus of ours, and Jackson was good value in the fifth, and should fit in very well in our Cover 2. Lastly, we needed a guard. Anthony Herrera sucks, so we need to replace him ASAP. So we took Reggie Stephens, a solid all around guard who compete with Herrera the first year, and then take over after his rookie season. I am very happy with my draft. The only thing I might have changed was I might have traded my third for Melvin Bullitt, rather than Landry. What do you guys think?

EDIT - The Vikings also swapped Sage Rosenfels for Jason Wright. So we addressed RB too. Wright will compete with Albert Young and Ian Johnson. JBond didn't technically approve this trade, but I don't give a ****, it happened in my heart :)

You got a nice value for Brandon Marshall, I'm just not really sure Pete Carroll is tough enough to get him under control. Then again, maybe he needs a more lenient coach after the McDaniels fiasco? Not sure. Either way, I like the first two picks you made. I think you probably gave up a little too much in the other two trades you made, but the need is there I guess. I just don't think either of those guys are really going to answer a lot of questions for Seattle.

Bulaga and Verner were nice picks and adding Marshall provides you with a big time target, bot other than that I'm not biggest fan of Reshad Jones; he won't be anything more than a decent starter in the league. Briscoe is a big target, but I see him struggling in the NFL; probably nothing more than a #4 WR and red zone target. Andre Carter is a good addition too especially for a 4th rounder.

              DB Earl Thomas, Texas (#17)
              DE/OLB Everson Griffen, USC (#30)
DL Alex Carrington, Arkansas State (#80)
              WR Eric Decker, Minnesota (#93)
              OL Jeff Byers, USC (#157)

              Losses:

              OT Jared Gaither
              S Dawan Landry
              RB Willis McGahee

              Analysis

Coming into this draft, TACKLE and myself had two goals: add legitimate targets for Joe Flacco, and get younger on defense. We strongly feel that we accomplished both those goals. Getting a Pro Bowl talent in Greg Olsen for the equivalent of a 3rd round pick was huge for us, and adding Eric Decker in the 3rd as a solid possession receiver and future #2 added a little youth to our receiving core. We really feel like that those moves, along with the acquisition of Anquan Boldin earlier in the offseason, give that offense a huge boost. Combined with a rock solid running game surrounding Ray Rice and Le'Ron McClain, and for once we dont have to worry about our offense. The loss of Jared Gaither is regrettable, but really, with Oher as an in house replacement and getting Top 20 value for him, I think we will learn to live with it.

The defensive acquisitions were almost perfect for us as well. Earl Thomas is a great fit both scheme and position wise, as his ability to play both S and CB will help until Reed decides to hang up the cleats. Learning from the very best will undoubtedly help him as well. We had originally targeted Odrick at 25, but when an offer to trade down and accumulate some mid round picks presented itself, we couldnt help it. Ultimately we lost Odrick, but Everson Griffen is a great consolation prize. Hes big, fast, and can play in a 3-4 or 4-3. He would be a terror opposite Suggs and I really like the pick. The addition of Alex Carrington definitely helped ease the pain of missing out on Odrick. Carrington is a Pryce clone capable of playing inside and out, and as you can tell, versatility was a theme for us this draft.

Byers was good value and helped add depth to the interior oline which was hurt a bit with Yanda sliding out to RT.

Overall, I loved what we did and if anything similar happened in real life for the Ravens, Id be stoked. Thoughts?

                    • Thought the Lions draft was really solid. Im a bit confused as to the addition of both Choice and Blunt with Smith in the fold, but I really liked what you guys did. Must of been hard passing on those DTs though.

Yeah I got a comment. You took Chris Scott one pick before you mother ******* asshole! God I hate Detroit.

But in all honesty, I really like your draft. I root for Detroit in my heart, just because I feel like you guys deserve to be good one year. And that draft might just do it for ya.

It is solid. Bowman was a definite steal.
