  • Chicago Bears sign:

    LB Brendan Ayanbadejo- VM - Veteran special teams player who played great under ST coach Dave Toub in the past.

    TE Nate Byham - VM - Depth at TE with the potential to see playing time with how weak the position is in Chicago.

    C/G Chris Spencer - VM - Resigns with the Bears on a cheaper deal. Can provide depth or start if need be.

    RB Marion Barber - VM - Like Spencer, he resigns on a cheaper deal to provide depth.

    • NY Giants sign:

      OT Kareem McKenzie - VM - McKenzie received a few other offers but mostly as a plan B in case other teams missed a more prized tackle. He returns to the Giants as a likely starter hoping for another championship run.

      QB Charlie Batch - VM - With David Carr moving on to Tampa to follow his QB coach, the Giants needed a backup for Eli and Batch is one of the best veteran backups in the league who can start in a pinch.

        OG Montrae Holland - Low - Returns to the team at least as depth with the potential to start.

        CB Alan Ball - Low - Depth player who can start at CB or S in a pinch.

        LB Erik Walden - Low - Replaces Anthony Spencer as starting OLB for the time being.

        S Abram Elam - Low - Returns to the team with the chance to start.

        S Craig Steltz - VM - Good special teamer and depth at safety, could earn a starting job with a strong offseason.

        LB Tim Dobbins - Low - Switches between the Texas teams to provide depth at ILB.

        DL Tommie Harris - VM - Seeing if he has any gas left in the tank as a situational pass rusher and potential 3-4 DE.

          OT Gosder Cherilus - Mid - Potential starter at RT or at least starting caliber depth.

          C Mike Pollack - Mid - Likely starter at C, familiar with Howard Mudd's scheme form Indy.

                              DE Cory Redding - VM - Received no interest on the market, so he returns to his niche with the Ravens.

                              RB Cedric Benson - VM - Surprisingly got no other offers on the market, so he will head to Baltimore to backup Ray Rice in the role vacated by the retiring Ricky Williams, another former Texas RB.

                              LB Dannell Ellerbe - VM - See Guyton above + system familiarity.

                              C Matt Birk - VM - Savvy veteran returns as the potential starter at center.

                              OT Bryant McKinnie - VM - Played surprisingly well last season as a trash heap pick-up and returns in the same role this year.

                                OL Trai Essex - Low - Versatile o-line backup with system familiarity.

                                RB Knowshon Moreno - VM - First round bust will get a shot in Pittsburgh as a backup with the RB situation in question due to Mendenhall's injury.
