  • Timeline of Events

It has been suggested that I post a timeline of events so everyone knows what is going on.

Tuesday, Feb 14 - 15 - Initial cuts, application of franchise tags and RFA tenders, trading opened up

Thursday, Feb 16 - Free Agency will open at 12:01am eastern time. Teams will have until 11:59pm eastern on Friday, Feb 17 to submit offer sheets to me via email. Cuts and trades may continue to happen in this time.

Saturday, Feb 18 - Once the window for submitting free agent offers has closed, I will take some time (hopefully no more than 24 hours) to determine where players will sign in the first round of free agency.

Sunday, Feb 19 - The 2nd round for signing free agents has opened and will remain open until 11:59pm eastern on Monday, Feb 20. I will take some time (hopefully no more than 24 hours) to determine where players will sign in the second round of free agency. Players will sign deals lower than where they are listed if they do not receive better deals. Cuts and trades may continue to happen in this time. Also, please include guys in your 2nd email even if you "low-balled" them the first time through. This will help avoid confusion on my end.

Distant Future - The Draft. More on this as we approach.

End of Draft - Thurs, March 1 11:59pm EST

Once the draft is completed, you may begin sending in your emails with offers for the 3rd round of FA (works just like the previous two rounds) and UDFAs.

Each team will be allotted 30 "UDFA points" to spend on up to 8 UDFA players. To sign one, simply put the players name (in order of preference) followed by the amount of points you wish to spend on that player. Whoever spends the most points on that player will get him. If two teams offer the same amount, the one higher in the draft order will get him. (For instance, if the Colts and Giants both bid 5 points on a player, the Colts will get him.)

You don't have to submit offers to any UDFAs if you don't want any. Or, you can bid all of your points on just one guy. Or send in 30 names with 1 point bids each. (You'll get the top 8 you successfully bid for.)

Please send this as a SEPARATE email than your 3rd round veteran free agent offers and put "UDFA" somewhere in the subject line.

If you need further clarification, please ask. This will also have the 11:59pm Thursday night deadline.

Please review the free agency procedures on the first page and start submitting offers via email at 12:01am.

Remember to be descriptive and go nuts. Include backup backup contingency backup plans and make good arguments for why a player would want to come to your team.

You'll have 48 hours and I'll be "leaking rumors" throughout, so check the media thread. Some of it may be real info and some of it will be **** I make up completely. Feel free to deny rumors or make your arguments public if you think it will help.

And on top of it all, have fun.

Heads up for everyone during free agency:

If you have a tendered RFA and would like to lock him up long term at the salary level indicated on the free agent list, submit it to me.

I've done this for a couple of teams already and didn't want anyone to miss out.

        Additionally:

If you want to extend a franchise tagged player at an ELITE level deal and the player seems like he would take it, I'll do it.

I know some teams franchised Quality level guys, but you must be willing to sign them long term at an ELITE level in order lock up a franchise tagged player.

Note to all teams submitting Round 2 FA offers:

If you have signed players up to the salary cap, I will automatically decrease any remaining offers you've made to veteran minimums. If no one else offers to that player, or you're the best choice out of those who offer VM contracts, you will still get him.

So make sure your priorities are clearly marked. For example, if you have enough cap room to make one Mid level offer and you've made that offer to 3 different players, make sure you've put them in order of priority.
