I'm getting Infamous. I don't really want any of the other ones so I'm not sure. Maybe Dead Nation? Or Super Stardust. Not LBP or that racing game.

        • So i figured I would give you guys a heads up Gamestop has a pretty good deal going on. They have buy 2 get one free for used games. I know they do this all the time but I am picking up:
          - Uncharted: Drakes Fortune
          - Heavy Rain
          - God Of War Collection
          all for $43.

I would at least check it out.

          • haha. Yeah, I'm gonna go a cheaper route this time around, but I have another coupon for buy 2 get 1 free.

For one of those...I plan on spending like 30 bucks for 3 games. And then in like a week or so, I'll spend like $60ish on Brotherhood, Metro 2033, and something else.

As for L.A. Noire guys...I'm loving it so far. It's kind of weird how it jumps around so fast at the beginning, though. You're in the middle of case and then, it's over pretty damn quickly. And so far, I suck at interrogation. lol.

            Thanks BoneKrusher^

It certainly feels like a rockstar game. The gun play is exactly like both of those games, although the cover is better. The driving is GTA esque, but they encourage driving normally, opposed to a maniac. But you can drive all crazy like, without any ramifications still. It kind of kills the mood, though...unless it's warranted in a chase. It's really on the player, how they want to play it. Cole's movement is better than either of those games...much smoother. The similarities kind of end there, though. It's a slower paced game. It's all about character interaction/interrogation and investigating crime scenes. There are shoot outs and fast chases, but they're mixed in. They're not the whole game...they play second fiddle to the slower methodical investigation and interrogation.

I just didnt like how quickly things jumped in the beginning...the first few cases are just the tutorial. But they didnt need to rush it so much. Felt a little confusing at first. I'm just now getting into the cases that will take much longer to complete. You get promoted after the short tutorial period...which takes an hour, give or take. So the overall story should really start to pick up now.

But yeah, so far I really like it. It's a pretty gorgeous looking game...and I fully intend to play the game realistically...driving nicely and what not. haha. It's extremely immersive. I'd encouarge those who get it, to just take it slow, and enjoy everything. No need to rush through it.

edit...I'm actually thinking of starting it over, because I started playing on like 1 hour sleep. I just want to go back, knowing what I know now and in a clearer state of mind. haha. This is certainly the type of game that I can see myself pouring a bunch of consecutive hours in, without even knowing it.

So you're not a fan of awesome things? I guess fun has SO been done before.

I won't get it tonight but I will probably buy it here sometime soon. Or I may check out that 3 for 2 deal. Still lots of games I have not yet played.

                  • The mission structure is different in ways. The game is broken up into indivisual cases...as soon as you finish one, the next will start in another point in time, automatically. Like a week will pass or whatever. The story is always progressing. You can free roam...but it's not like GTA or Red Dead, there arent an endless amount of distractions. It jumps around a lot, but they tried to streamline the main storyline in this one. Keeping the focus on the primary story.

                    • Here's what I said on another forum...a little more info, but mostly the same stuff I said in here.

I just finished my first "real" mission, following the tutorial. So much fun. The game is fantastic.

And while you can drive crazily...it actually does effect the grade you are given on your case at the end of the mission. It's a nice touch...the game encourages realism. I love that.

My only complaint would be the tutorial period. The game was jumping around too much while you were on the patrol level of the LAPD. The first few cases are just the tutorial...but the way it skips around, was kind of off-putting and I was initially a little confused. But once you get past this period, which lasts for about an hour, and get promoted to traffic...the game really, really shines.

I love it. It def. feels like a Rockstar game...but Cole moves around more smoothly than Niko or Marston. The gun play is pretty much exactly the same. And the cars feel much looser than that of GTA4. Very easy to turn/control. And of course, they have adult themes in common, although...L.A. Noire is a lot more "grown up" then the other two. Red Dead was certainly a more serious game as well, just not on the level of this one. The similarities pretty much end there...it's a much slower game. The shoot outs and car chases play second fiddle to the in depth investigation and methodical interrogation. I think it's a blast. I really like how they're telling this story and the facial animation is everything they made it out to be. Some of the women look too similar/kind of sketchy at times...but the overall package is still wonderful. As for L.A. itself, the map is enormous...It's not the most beautiful game ever made, but I still think it's pretty gorgeous. Top notch as far as open world games go. And I havent run into any graphical problems as of yet. No sign of screen tearing at all...in what again, is an enormous map.

Great game, great game. A major player for Game of the Year.

                      • I'm gonna pick LA Noire up in the morning. I was on the fence about it but MOTH definitely convinced me to get it. I've been getting bored with video games the last few months but I think that is going to change now.

                        • i honestly *hated* the gta missions. i couldn't play through more than a couple of them in any of those games. and i generally got bored of generating helicopters and harriers or whatever because i couldn't leave the first island. rdr was slightly better, but it felt like the same game with a western theme. meh.

Couldn't agree more. Thank god for PC on the previous GTA's so you could just download a completed save and not have to put up with all that crap!

Props to BK on the sig!

lol. I've been told I can have that effect on some people, when reviewing games and what not. haha. I dont even want to calculate how much I will end up spending on games in 2011. So far I got...Dead Space 2, Dragon Age 2, Crysis 2, L.A. Noire, and Bioshock 2 ($15). I plan on buying a couple of three for two deals and I have way too many 2011 preorders...yikes. Kind of sucks when you're the one paying for all that now. HA.

As for where I'm currently at in the game...just got promoted to homicide. I'm loving every minute of it.
