  • King Kong would've been perfect if it were about an hour shorter. Lots of dragged out sequences in that movie. Particularly IMO on the island when they were getting eaten by bugs and before the Empire State building sequence when Naomi Watts was having fun around Manhattan with her giant ape friend. They could've edited Kong into a more watchable version. Well made otherwise, good followup to the LOTR trilogy.

I wouldnt say he has nothing to do with it. Blomkamp learned everything he knows from Jackson, he is his protege. Blomkamp owes his shot at the big time to Jackson, and Im sure he is working closely with him on this one. I would be shocked if Peter Jackson was acting as simply a producer on this film.

Yeah but to really call it a Peter Jackson movie is a stretch

        • They did the same thing w/ Cloverfield. Abrams got all the credit for it, even though Matt Reeves directed it. You'll hear a lot more Peter Jackson than you will Neill Blompkamp. This may be a little different because, Blompkamp actually wrote District 9 but, Jackson's name is strongly pushed on this movie and he's going to get the majority of praise, if it does well.

Same thing happened with Tarantino and Hostel for the first few months.

that's very sad to hear, I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. Now that you have lowered my standards for the film maybe I'll think it's ok. Instead of going in with high expectations and walling out feeling like I was robbed by a blind bum.

I haven't seen Transformers 2 and don't plan on it, but I had high hopes for Public Enemies and it came up waaaaayyyyyy short. There were parts that had me bored, parts that made no sense...I hated it.

Transformers 2 may suck but Megan Fox is fun to look at and the special effects are flat out incredible. I watched that movie on those two things and those two things only.

                            • Is Public Enemies more of a crime drama or does it focus on Depp wooing his girlfriend? In all the commercials that's all they show, Depp and that girl. If that's a majority of the movie i'll pass because i'm more interested in Depp's character being a criminal and the investigation to catch him.

                                Yeah, it is basically just:

                                Shootout
                                meet girl
                                rob a bank/shootout
                                talk to girl
                                shootout
                                girl
                                die

The crime is boring, they go in, they get out, the shootouts are the same every time, you know he won't get killed so why care? The movie in general was too long and boring. Bale was boring as hell, may have been his character, he was a big waste of money though. Depp wasn't anything special either in my opinion. They just thought they could make a fascinating character by having him say some eloquent phrase saying how he is living for today or how they da best.
