lol. Hey do you know if Edgar Wright is doing something with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost? Another thing I mean. I heard they were signed on for 3 movies?

Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz kick way too much ass. Shaun of the Dead just makes me wish for the Zombie Apocalypse to happen now. It would be so much fun.

They found character development (mainly secondary characters) to be minimal, which they magnified by saying that the movie draaggged on too long. Blah blah blah, overrated, but great by *today's standards*.

      *Which is *****
I definitely agree that its no longer the golden age for movies (it was the 70s in my opinion. so many ******* good movies. AND Pink Floyd. godamn. I wish I was born in 1954) but for the time period now, it is one of the better movies. Its really hard to ask for more out of movies.

What movies this decade do you think stand up to the movies of the past?

I swear I remember reading somewhere that they were reuniting soon but IMDB does not confirm that. It seems they are all fairly busy so I would expect something in 2011 or so. I do know that Pegg is no longer doing Inglorious Bastards which sucks but he is writing a movie with Nick Frost and they are both to star. It is being directed by Greg Mottola of Superbad fame.

Is none an option? Kidding, I will have to think on that for a bit.

At the same time I will be considering a

          marathon.

I completly agree with you about the 70's being the golden age of cinema. The 80's were pretty weak with Raging Bull being the only pure masterpiece I feel that came out of that time. I am a huge fan of 90's films. There are just so many great movies that came out in that time period. So far in the 00's I feel it has been kind of the age of the foreign film. Of the top of my head the only movies that I consider masterpieces for this decade are There Will Be Blood and City of God.

Bruce Campbell is such an underated actor. God do I love watching every movie he does. I also get a kick out of Burn Notice because he is so damn awesome.

                  • A few movies I think will stand up to movies of the past:
                    City of God
There Will Be Blood(this movie will only be more appreciated in the future IMO)
                    Lord of the Rings Trilogy?
                    The Dark Knight
                    Memento

The only ones I have real confidence in are the first three I listed and thats just off the top of my head.

My initial thoughts were along these lines.

City of God is the top I think. I'd probably flip flop on that and TWBB depending on the day.

Is foreign film catching up or are we just now noticing?

and I completely agree with your thoughts on Campbell. Whenever I see him on Burn Notice I find myself thinking, "this is so Campbell".

                      • I still think animated films are better than they ever have been with Pixar's unbelievable consistency, Miyazaki's occasional effort.

Miyazaki is no doubt a brilliant director. His animated films are pure brilliance. I will say that there are some good animated films but I would consider none this decade to be masterpieces. Spirited Away is tops for me.
