I want to say to myself "stick with them, they will be good eventually and you can say you were right there", but they make it so hard for anyone to give a ****. They are just as a ****** as they were last year. The only difference is last season they would **** their little baby pants three quarters earlier. I really hope they can get a nice draft pick.

Except, you know, Kobe already has five championships and two more isn't out of the question considering they might take it this year. But great job there.

The reality is that neither of them are going to happen. That is the point of the statement.

Thank God someone is willing to look beyond highlight reels and towards empirical evidence.
This is like the Brett Favre fourth quarter comeback thing, where they give an incredibly narrow-scope of circumstances to an incredibly broad definition. Who knows what the numbers would look like if you change the time left from five minutes, to four, to one, or to under a minute. Five minutes in the game is a long time in basketball. Or change the point lead from five points to seven or to ten.

At this point in their careers, too, Lebron is more "clutch" in that he can and does score in many more ways. He will never, ever, ever in his life be able to hit difficult jumpers like Kobe can. Kobe's probably the best "tough shot that you scream 'WTF are you doing' at him and then he makes it and you shut up" players in the history of the game.

This is a very, very specific set of data and only teeny tiny sliver of the incredibly broad term "clutch."

Also, as far as the Kobe/MJ thing goes, Kobe won't be as good as MJ. He is a poor man's MJ in every sense of the word (and that's still good enough to rank him in the top 15 players of all time). Kobe Bryant in his best season never shot as high of a shooting percentage as Michael Jordan in his WORST season.

You can argue whose career was better, but not who was the better player. There's a huge difference.

I definitely agree, but you can also argue that Jordan's game wasn't complete in the sense that he didn't shoot that many threes in his career.

                      just playing devil's advocate.

                      • Both spectacular finishers. Monta's jumper at the same age is better. Jordan is clearly the better player at the same point, and for a career, but their games are similar.

Hot LeBron can make any shot from any spot in the half court. Very comparable when both are on.

Jordan was also insanely efficient though for his career. More so than Kobe, for sure. Not to mention he was a better passer and rebounder than Kobe. Surprisingly, Kobe isn't much of a steals guy either when you consider he was one of the best defensively in the league for several years.

Statistically, it's really not that close, but like YFS said, if Kobe can grab a couple more championships you can certainly debate their careers. Kobe also got stiffed on a few MVP's as well.
                            (shameless self-promotion)

MJ was all defense and Monta is the worst defender on the leagues annual worst defense.
