Tonight I had an experience that I will renmember for the rest of my life. Every weekend I drive 3 hours round trip to see my girl. On the back (sometimes on the way there) I grab dinner at the fast food establishment of my preference. Usually Arby's, McDonalds, Quizno's, Subway, or Taco Bell. (I avoid Arby's at all costs)
As I was passing Taco Bell, I realized that the $5 box was calling my name. I mean.. Real talk folks... Real talk. That box is amazing. (It rocks, it rocks, as Sir Charles would say) So I pulled in, went to the drive-thru, and low and behold, I was struck with sadness. The $5 box promotion has ended. It was taken off the menu. No longer did I get to see Sir Charles in his red robe, holding the box as if it was a silver tray carrying lobster.
I was devastated. That is an understatement. I contemplated building up the balls to ask the drive thru guy if they still had the box. Normally I wouldn't, I'm not that type of guy to ask for something that isn't on the menu. I feel bad. But I did. Me and boxy have a thing.
And so on that fateful night (2 hours ago) I asked that man. That man told me they did in fact still have said box. When I found out said box still existed, I was struck with a fit of glee. I enjoyed my $5 box on the way home, and listened to some B.o.b and lived life the way it should be lived..
Basically... I wanted to just tell you all that
1) If you haven't tried the box... It's awesome and cheap
2) Some establishments may still give it to you if you ask
3) Today was a good day
Anyone have a recipe for a good buffalo wing sauce?
Sriracha Wing Sauce
* 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
* 2 cloves finely minced garlic
* about 1 small onion, minced (1/2 cup)
* 1/2 cup ketchup
* 1/4 cup Sriracha hot sauce or any chili hot sauce (or more for a spicier sauce)
* 1 tablespoon vinegar
* 1 teaspoon fish sauce or soy sauce
* 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
In sauce pan, heat the 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and add onion and garlic. On medium heat, continue stirring the onions and garlic until they are golden brown, but not burnt. Allowing the onions and garlic to reach a golden brown stage will bring out the extra fragrance and flavor. Then add ketchup, sriracha hot sauce, vinegar, fish/soy sauce and ground cumin.
Stir well and let simmer for about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside. After chicken wings have finished baking, toss wings in sauce.
