  • Letterman was ****** over by Leno when Carson left, so again it's no surprise he would attack him now.

    Also, Archer is pretty hilarious.

      • He's more NBC bashing than attacking either Leno or Conan...But my point is starting some kind of Late Night war would do wonders for ratings of all shows. If only for tuning into monologues, more people would watch.

I guess I just don't like Letterman, at all.

        • I like Kyle Chandler. I enjoyed Early Edition when I was younger, but I have never seen any FNL.

          Boston Public was awesome, indeed.

Archer was pretty good, too. Some good laughs, I'll be watching.

If there is ANY truth to Gervais and Carrell uniting in The Office next season, it would be the type of stuff legends are made from. I don't know how the show could move on after, because Gervais appearing would be the ultimate climax...That's what she said.

This is how I feel. Michael Scott is, at any given moment, the most annoying character on TV. He is a detriment to what is an otherwise great show. In fact, if someone like Ricky Gervais was playing that role, I think it would be one of the better sitcoms of all time. Fact of the matter is, when Carrell is on screen the show is significantly worse then when he is off it. There is absolutely pitch perfect casting on that show except for Carrell. Hes just so ******* annoying.

And I understand that. Its that Carrell brings absolutely no redeeming qualities to the role.

I honestly think its one of those things where I like him much better as a supporting character then I do as a lead one, a la Seth Rogen. Too much Steve Carrell is a bad thing, especially when the supporting cast is so brilliant.

                              • Friday Night Lights may be the best high school show that lasted more than one season of all time, and it's not very realistic.
Square Pegs? It was realistic, lasted more than one season I think.

They can't do realistic HS on a primetime series, the censors won't let them deal with the sex & drugs in any kind of real way. It always becomes a bunch a stereotypes, & that applies largely to FNL too, which just ran out of juice. I define juice here as the exciting stuff, HS FB game sequences, teachers have affairs with underage students, etc.

My take on the Leno displacing Conan thing: Conan was vulnerable from the moment they gave Leno the primetime gig, everyone was waiting with bated breath for those 1st numbers on Leno to come in, after yrs. of late night failing where they used to rule, NBC had to know they were shooting themselves in the foot again.

That letter Conan wrote was a last act of defiance, the little mouse flipping off the eagle the moment before he eats him, he was trying to get out & off to displace someone else, a cable talk show gig maybe, he was out despite being more popular than Leno, who had gotten stale like his material & had a core audience too old for the advertisers, so he was trying to get out with dignity for himself & his staff of writers who are apparently a lot better than Leno's -- it 's adios Conan, thanx for playing! Conan will resurface within the 2010 somewhere.
