Easy promotion. Most regular watchers won't be aware there's no Caprica that night. Therefore when they sit in front of their TV and realize whatever's on is not Caprica, they'll just watch anyway and possibly be interested in a new show.

Could not agree more. See: The Office. Christmas break, advertise a new epsiode yet it's a clip show, another week long break, 2 new episodes, and now 3 weeks off. Talk about a tease.
