Just finished watching the first seasons of the walking dead and breaking bad. I don't get the hype behind either of these shows, just not interested in seeing more from either.

Re: Dexter Season 5 & Finale (This spoiler is super ridiculously long I kind of got carried away with myself, I won't be offended if you click the spoiler and just keep scrolling past lol)
Honestly, with the direction they went with the season by letting Dexter have a clean break and not pursue him on anything about Rita's death, you shouldn't have expected some dark ass mega serial killer rampaging of bad assery. This entire season's premise was him seeking a resolution to help him get past Rita's death by helping Lumen with her similar situation where she was looking for the same kind of thing. It didn't work for Dexter, shocking. It worked for Lumen and they're both moving on in different directions since now they're different people.
I thought it was definitely a better season than 3, and tbqh I thought Lumen was a much better addition to the show than Lila in season 2, I hated her soooo ******* much, good lord... Jonny Lee Miller and Peter Weller were better than Jimmy Smits as well imo.
The people that are hating on this season were quite frankly just expecting too much. Yes, Dexter is an emotionless serial-killer, but a massive portion of the entire series is him seeking for something that will let him feel something. The season opened with him going ape **** on some dude in an abandon fishing shack, I think its plainly obvious that he does actually have some varrying degrees of emotion after the first four seasons and that should be plainly obvious to everyone. As Brodeur pointed out, two words paint it perfectly, "Character Growth." Thats what it's about, Dexter growing as a character. Dexter dug himself into a hole so deep through the first four seasons, and with Rita, Trinity, Doakes, Lila, Miguel and Rudy all dead (yeah I'm probably forgetting someone important), Astor & Cody gone the entire season, the only thing tying him to anything in the previous four was Quinn's theory. That has been completely resolved now with Liddy dead and Quinn released (regarding the stakeout gear he signed out that someone questioned earlier, just showing them his signature would get him off the hook there).
Considering all of that, with how that season just ended they gave themselves all the resolutions they needed to end the series, or do whatever the **** they want with the next season, and since they got picked up for a sixth, its the latter. Theres literally nothing holding Dexter back from doing whatever he pleases other than Astor & Cody for the Summer and Harrison growing up, and both of those situations really depend on how far they jump forward for season six.
I expect Dexter to go back to his usual self and usual routines (basically what he was like as the series began, without anyone watching him with a keen eye and having only one real thing (Harrison) outside of killing other people that he has to worry about. This is a change of pace from having some other serial-killer or cop all over his back, a wife/pregnant girlfriend/arsonist girlfriend/raped serial-killer girlfriend/girlfriend with psychotic ex-husband/sister with serial-killer boyfriend and (assuming they don't pick up where they just ended and Astor & Cody are back in Orlando by the time season 6 starts) 2-3 kids to worry about.
I honestly enjoyed season 5 for what it was, but I would take all the others except for season 3 before it. I'm saying it here now, I'm expecting season 6 to start out much like season 1, a cop show where the main character happens to also be a serial-killer and then eventually Dexter will find himself right in the middle of the cops and some other serial-killer's plans midway through the season while he juggles some real life responsibilities involving Deb, Harrison, possibly Astor and/or Cody, some random new person or a person at the station he owes or has made a commitment/promise to. Sound familiar? Didn't think so. Take the show for what it is. I'd love to be wrong and still have the show be interesting, while remaining true to itself, but I seriously doubt it.
I'd rank the Dexter seasons: 2-4-1-5-3, kind of different than most people I'd assume.

Wait Breaking Bad season 3 didn't get any nods this year? Someone here doesn't care for Breaking bad OR walking dead? You win life, I quit.

I thought Paul already got nominated and won, or was that for season two?
