  • I think in terms of supplements fish oil, a multivitamin, and whey are pretty important. Fish oil and a multi being essential and whey beign very good post work out.
When I eat, it is the food that is scared.

    • Whey is good but not necessary but any means in my opinion if you have the right diet.

Fish Oil and a multi should be taken everyday, lifter or not.

      • I think whey is important pwo because its such a fast protein. Fish Oil and a multi are most def. more important tho.

steak is not always that cheap.

but 1 gallon of milk, fat free or not, has about 130g of protein.

              • Steak is not cheap and cooking/defrosting a meat every time you eat is not convenient.

Also, Bos, its proven whey protein whoops casein when it comes to post work out. For all other times, I think your right that whey isnt necessary in the slightest, but I think post work out it can be important.

                  • I've been working out for a while, and obviously like all of you I have my own work out methods. I have a question.

What do you guys do when it come to bench? I want to increase my max, what's the best way to do this?

For me, pyramids have always been the best thing to do. I don't know how much you can currently bench, but I used to do something like this.

                      135 x 15-20 (cake)
                      155 x 15 (cake)
                      185 x 12-15 (starting to get tough)
                      205 x 8-12 (pretty damn tough)
                      225 x fail (******* hard)

I did this for six weeks one time. When I started it, I could barely do one rep of 225. When I finished, I could do eight.

This also works very well for squats.

Well, I weighed between 220-230 when I did this. Find a weight that you can do those reps at. Pyramids help tremendously. You need to find a weight for the end that you can do 1-2 times to start.

                          • only 6 weeks and you went from 1 rep of 225 to 8 reps. That's ******* good. I'll try that. How many times a week do you do this?

2-3 times per week, depending on how you feel and how much time you have. I was going to the gym 5-6 times per week. Do it for squats, too. It's amazing. You can't walk for three days, but the gains are amazing.

I really have to get back into this. Starting up some medicine ball workouts soon. That's going to be a ball.

Its mostly for just general health, but it is good for the brain and about 50 percent of lifting is central nervous system development.
