I had no idea this existed...

This is the first instrument I have bought with my own money. It's an ukulele. I was inspired by Jake Shimabukuro, the ukulele god, and I had always loved the sound. I bought it in Hawaii...

I currently want to get when it comes out...hopefully I will be able to afford it...

Being half asian I used to play the piano but stopped because football took too much time out of my day. I played the alto sax and violin in elementary school. I am currently trying to learn the guitar but my mom's old one broke...

Ukulele is super fun. Almost all popular music uses 4 part chords (either 4 part triads or 7 chords) and you can have a lot of fun converting songs into Ukulele pieces.

haha I don't know if I would call it "fun". Chords are easy but translating a melody is tedious. The only ones that are easy are Jack Johnson's, but I feel so lame playing those because everyone does.

Who plays melody on a Ukulele? It's cake with chords and that's how you're supposed to use it.

So I think I want to get a Little Martin or a Baby Taylor whenever I sell my electric. I was wondering if anyone has had or used either and could give me some opinions.

That's why I try to play a melody. Anyone can switch from a guitar and learn the chords for a ukulele in a day.

This guy is my inspiration. If anyone played an instrument how they're supposed to play it then there probably would be no Rock and Roll and everything that came from that.

                            chords. have notes.
                            notes. form melodies?

am i missing something? you can have chord progressions create melodies.

                            fyi. that was awesome.

                              Playing chords form harmonies.
                              Playing single notes form melodies.

i know that, 'essentially' what you're saying is correct.

                                essentially playing

                                c5, e5, bflat 5
                                c5, e5, a5
                                c5, e5, g5

is a melody, not a 'harmony'. sure there's harmonic elements in it, but the chord is playing a melody through progression. and that's what i'm getting at.
