        Bautista is the MVP of the AL. There is no question here, it's stupid to debate.

          • Well, I don't think so. I do think it's a 2 man race at the moment between those two though.

            • A-Gon hits a homer. How many does Bautista have today?

                No way in hell he wins it though, with the way writers do these things. Bautista has been the best player, but the Jays are on the outside in looking at the division and history says the MVP ends up being the "best player on the best team" kind of thing.

                Wish A-Gon had saved that one for a game that counts.

                  It'll count if we're play game 7 of the WS in Fenway

                  • Well, Bautista is ahead of him in basically every meaningful statistic.

                      Batting Average---> A-Gon
                      AllStar game HRs--->A--Gon

                      Thats all you need for MVP. Clutch!

                      Also, A-Gon also doesn't get thrown out at home in the All Star game.

                        Except batting average an RBI's. Which are not real good stats(I would argue batting average is. Assuming a tie in OBP, give me the guy with the higher average)obviously....but good luck convincing the voters that. Then you've got the team success thing, large market thing...it's just not a good case for Bautista right now despite him being the best hitter this year far and away. Not saying it's right, just pointing it out.

                          Bautista OBP: .468
                          Gonzo OBP: .414

                          Huuuuuuuge advantage in OBP and slugging percentage, plus he plays the more difficult defensive position. The only reason he doesn't have more RBIs (horrific stat) is because he has had a good portion of the year with Yuni Escobar as the only other competent hitter in that lineup. As for batting average, who gives a rats ass with that big of a gap in OBP. There is absolutely no debate, none whatsoever. Bautista is the MVP, and it's not a race.

                          • Bautista is the MVP. Remember he missed like 10 games so Gonzo has played more to accumulate the counting statistics.

                              • I just want to say that the Rangers traded Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Young to the Padres for Adam Eaton and Akinori Otsuka. :/
