Horrible series so far. Lannan always owns the Braves and now JJ has his worst start of the season.
    Regression was imminent.

The better get a boat load if they do. If he goes for a package that is lead by Montero, I'm going to flip.

    • It's ESPN, what do you expect? They have an east coast bias. There's no way he actually gets inducted.

Bonds in 04 vs the Dodgers

          436/718/1128 in 19 games that's a 1.846 OPS

          edit: MARKY MARK!

Because getting one of the best prospects in the game is a horrible way to start a package.

            They want Montero/Nova/Betances/Banuelos.

I'd offer Motero/Nova (or Noesi)/Betances/Corban Joseph (or David Adams if they prefer him)/Relief prospect (their choice, upper level: Whelan, lower level: Whitley).

I'd probably throw in Laird and get Ty Wig back as well if they wanted that.

            • They are obviously trying to stock up on pitching. They must feel trading Ubaldo and grabbing 3 pitching prospects is the best way to do it. Otherwise I have no idea why they'd trade him at this point. But he must be on the block because the word is out there and enough teams are scouting him.

It makes sense to want young pitching, but they aren't going to get 3 top 50 prospects for him, IIRC Haren went for 2 and lesser prospects.

I actually think Betances will be the better pitcher then Banuelos, but when I look at him I see...Ubaldo. Banuelos won't have as many dominant outings but will definitely be more consistent.

Agreed on Bentances. I'd always opt to keep the lefty. Especially in a system lacking them. Is the Rockies system that light in pitching? I know some of their bigger prospects the last two years have kind of flamed out.

                  • Mlbtr links the Pirates to Pence this morning. I know it would cost a hell of a lot to pull off, but with Pence locked up till 2014 (I think) and a contract for Cutch in the offseason, the pirates outfield would be awesome for the next couple years.

Id give them a package built around Lincoln and Marte. Give them a pitcher that's ready to start and a great outfield prospect.

Thanks to The Dynasty for the sig

Contrary to report, Yankees and Rockies haven't started exchanging names in any Jimenez talks. Odds that NYY/COL work out deal are very slim

Because a NL team getting a DH is a horrible way to start off a package.

Who says Montero can't play first? Only reason he hasn't been looked there as a Yankee is because we have Tex.

Then his bat (his only tool) becomes significantly less valuable, and he shouldn't be the headliner in a package for a young 6 WAR pitcher that is under control at an amazing price.

His hit tool is what made him a top 5 prospect, not his ability to catch. If he can fake it back there a few times a week that just makes him more valuable.

Why trade a pitcher like that for anyone right now when you have him under control through the end of 2014 at a reasonable price?
