  • Or they could use them to get someone more valuable.

This log jam is a fantastic "problem" to have at least. :) Obviously some one is going to have to get moved for a bat eventually.

I'm not sure if stud lefty is an accurate way to describe Mike Minor.

They could but there isn't much out there more valuable right now.

        • Yeah, Atlanta shits out great pitchers on a yearly basis. I think they could trade one and still be OK because more and more will emerge.

Even with Stubbs struggling this year, his defense, baserunning/speed and potential keep him off the market. He's not going anywhere.

<@JBond> And Dg, you'd waste it on corndogs
<@JBond> So you get no 5 dollars

                Take Beachy then. lol.

The Braves could trade some pitching for Markakis, if the Os make him available. Same goes for Hunter Pence.

They could always make a run at B.J. Upton.

I would rather have a youthful bat for years, rather than a Carlos Beltran.

I've yet to see anyone think he's more than a future #3. Which is a very nice piece, but "stud lefty"?

And it's really unrealistic, but I can't help but be excited when Heyman keeps throwing Dom Brown's name out there.

                  • Minor could be a #2. Do you view Niese as a 2 or a 3 with the way he is pitching right now?

MOTH if you want a bat why would you want Markakis or Upton? 2 players with talent and who should be so much better but they aren't. They've both been around long enough to realize that are just about average bats. They also seem to both be regressing the longer they've been in the league.

I think Niese is more likely to be a 2 in the future while Minor could be a borderline two. That's a very valuable commodity, and I'd do that deal, but I just didn't agree with the "stud lefty" wording.

Got ya. I view Minor very similar to Niese so at that point it's just how you view them pitching wise. 2 of them in the rotation would make me super happy.

He's an MLB ready #3/4 now, with loads of potential. He wont ever be an ace...but he should be a great 2/3. Minor can hit the mid 90s with that fastball now. That messed with his overall command for a while, but he has it down now, and it makes him all the more dangerous, with the movement he generates on it. It also will enhance the effectiveness of his already outstanding change up, in the long run. The kid's physical tools are still getting better year after year.

Really, Teheren is the only one who should be untouchable. But Atlanta could use a lefty of Minor's caliber in their rotation for the long term. I'm really high on Minor, and would hate to see him moved, unless it netted us a young bat with a vast amount of potential. Or you know, like Matt Kemp or something. ha.

                          edit...

As for another solid young Braves pitcher. Almost forgot about Kris Medlen, too. Hopefully he can come back strong, because he had some great outings last year.

You never know what a change of scenery may do. Upton's all messed up now, but there is no denying the potential he still possesses. Markakis' power is missing, but he's still a youthful, solid player, with a long term contract. A Georgia product, who may be able to meet his vast potential in Atlanta. I wouldnt want to break the bank exactly for either, but either player would be a welcomed addition.

                            Thanks BoneKrusher^

Agreed that they are similar. I see it as they have similar fastballs, and I love their plus weapons. (Niese-Curve/Minor-Change) I just have more faith in Niese's cutter/change being a better combo than Minor's curve/slider. Personal preference, although it might be aided by the fact that I'm obviously more familiar with Niese.

                              • The Royals need to be keeping tabs on the Beltran situation and try to swoop in with Melky Cabrera as a much safer/economical alternative for the teams that are in the hunt for Carlos Beltran.
