  • New Bass Guitar

I'm looking at buying a new bass guitar. I currently have a 5 string soundgear. It works well, but the finish is starting to crack. I would still use the 5 string for songs that my band plays where I need that 5th string. But there are a good majority of them in which we do not. I do a lot of worship, so the 5 string works well for that. But a 4 string would work better for my band. Here are the basses I have picked out. And don't mind the prices, the store that I buy my guitars at take 20% off manufacturer price.

Edit: If anyone can think of a bass that they really like or anything like that, then let me know, and I will +rep you.

Fender P Bass is the all around best bass guitar you can get. Can't go wrong with that or the Jazz Bass. Both are excellent guitars. When someone says "bass guitar" the image of a Fender bass is the one that pops into most people's heads.

This guitar is a bargain for 500 bucks. Sounds like a 1000 dollar guitar

I have a Carvin neck-thru 4 string that is a beaut. Natural finish, super-hot pickups but they're passive so you don't need a battery, nice slick neck and fretboard. I like it a lot. They're expensive new, but I got mine used in perfect condition at Guitar Center.

Guitars yes, basses no. I wouldn't say they are bad, but they are not my style.

The best bass I've ever played/recorded/heard was a hohner fretless. That thing sounded fricken amazing. Such mellow and smooth tone.

Of those three, that Precision Bass is would be my selection. That said, if we're talking about any bass around that price mark, I'd consider going after a used bass. You can find a lot of nice used bass' around that cost that would normally be $1500-2500 instruments.

I own a 5-string active Warwick Corvette that cost me $675.
