  • Research Paper on NFL Draft

Hey guys, I'm doing a research paper on the NFL Draft for my composition class. Basically, I need to find a whole lot of sources. At this point, I'm honestly not even sure of what topic I'm going to do, but I think I'm going to mostly talk about the shortcomings of the NFL Draft. I'll probably discuss the risk and uncertainty involved with each pick, the trade value chart, and the large amount of money involved with signing players who haven't done anything in the NFL, then propose that a rookie pay scale be implemented and talk about that a little. The paper has to be 10-12 pages long. If any of you guys have any advice or have read any relevant articles I could source, that would be awesome. Thanks!

When talking about pay scale, I would obviously bring up the NBA's system.

id look at the succes of a team having a succesfull pick and a busted pick first overall to illustrate importance although it has to be said that your datasize will be limited

        Saints 2014 draft wish list:
        - No pass rusher till the fourth round (or preferably at all)
        - Corner or Wideout in the first
        - No reaching
        - No Kelvin Benjamin

The only quantifiable information you are likely to find are monetary issues. I think it is doubtful there will be any published work regarding any draft not called Selective Service. You will need to read a lot of newspaper articles.

You could talk about the underclassmen aspects as well. I wrote a whole paper on that once.

It's probably something you can't use, but

sociological research paper about Race and the NFL draft. If you want something academic you might want to give it a look.
