  • Three Sporting Events

    http://proxy.espn.go.com/espn/page2/...simmons/020221

So, if you could pick three sporting events from the past to attend, which would they be?

    1. USA-USSR: February 22, 1980; Lake Placid, NY
    (Duh.)

    2. Yankees-Pirates: October 13, 1960; Pittsburgh, PA
(Down 7-4 going into the bottom of the eighth in Game 7 of the 1960 World Series, the Pirates score five runs, and gain a 9-7 lead. Not to be deterred, Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra single in the eighth and ninth runs for the Bronx Bombers, tying the game 9 to 9. In the bottom of the ninth, Ralph Terry gets ready to pitch to 24-year-old second baseman Bill Mazeroski. The first pitch is a ball to Mazeroski. The second pitch is smacked by Maz over Forbes Field's left field fence, and the Pirates win Game 7 and the series.)

    3. Dodgers-Giants: October 3, 1951; New York, NY

I just wanted to be at the Oregon-Florida matchup in the Elite 8 so I could land a left hook in Joakim Noah's fat mouth and put an elbow in Al Horford's eye socket.

Seriously though, that's a good topic. I'd have to think long and hard before I made a decision. I mean, it depends on what my motivation would be. To view a great game, or to make money. It'd be sweet to go watch Babe Ruth, Honus Wagner, Cy Young etc... and bring back some signed memorabilia. Instant millionaire.

                  1) Illinois vs Arizona -- Elite 8 2005 in Chicago.

                  2) White Sox vs Astros -- WS Game 7 2005 in Houston

                  3) The Miracle on Ice

(coming in 4th would've been Super Bowl X where we thumped the Pats, but that wasn't a very good game, so it slid out of my top 3)
