    • Uh is anyone else hearing that Frank Haith has agreed to be the next Missouri coach. I hope this is false.

Looks official. I don't get it at all.

          • If Haith turns out to be a good hire, which is very doubtful, Alden'll look like a genius.

Looking forward to this press conference.

What a terrible hire. Alden owed it to the fan base and everyone involved to at least make a run at some the hot names. It really sucks that everything went down AFTER Billy Gillespie took the job at Tech. THAT would be a great hire.

The whole reason for not going after Shaka Smart (in theory) was that he has no familiarity with the recruiting territory. Well...Haith isn't much better in that category. That program is going to free-fall under Frank Haith and it will be a sad thing to witness.

              • now rumors are Frank Martin is the top name to replace Haith at Miami

                • So Haith has never been a good recruiter even though he was near a hot bed of talent and in the ACC, and in 7 years made the tournament once, awful signing if you ask me. I don't even think he's a good coach.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to Mizzou fans raging on the radio today. ******* awful move. They went from getting a great coach in Painter to an outright dud in Haith when they still had plenty of other options.

                    • Mizzou was never getting Painter. They got the level of coach that is appropriate for their stature. What hot name is going to head to Mizzou?

And nepg, this lame hire proved my point. Mizzou is just not that much of a
destination job for coaches. It's more of a stepping stone.

Also, if you don't think that the B1G money at purdue dwarfs the Big12 money at Mizzou you are misguided. That money is huge for all programs not just football.

                      • Haith isn't a terrible coach but Mike Anderson was clearly a better one, they took a step down on this one I think, there was talent at the U.. so he could be held accountable for not being able to make it work.

What's really telling is that Miami let Haith go without exercising the buyout clause! Hilarity. They wanted him to GTFO. Maybe this is where Shaka ends up. Either that or he gets a healthy payraise and sticks around VCU.

                          • Again sorry boys. Shaka is going no where like I said pages ago. Hope the U snags a solid coach though.

I hope he stays. Money does talk at some point. Everyone has a price. Sometimes that price isn't realistic, so they stay.

These great coaches staying at smaller schools is awesome, IMO. Look at what having a great coach did for Duke. They've become a huge brand.

Before Duke basketball was big, they were just a very good academic school. There are plenty of those kinds of schools that the country knows nothing about. It's a great synergy, IMO.

Funny worthless unrelated note, but VCU has produced more NBA first rounders than Duke in the last 5 NBA drafts.
