Plummer traded to the Bucs for a 2008 Pick

I just saw it on Espn News Breaking News. This is heating up to be a strange thing in Tampa with 4 QB's.

MichaelJordanEberle (sabf) 03-03-2007 12:24 PM

Apparently Plummer is retiring, thus voiding the trade.

nyjets5125 03-03-2007 12:27 PM

im soooo confused, i saw on espnnews that both garcia and plummer are goign to tampa, i dont think either of those qbs would want to do that, and i dont think the bucs will either because gruden still likes simms

Windy 03-03-2007 12:27 PM

According to John Clayton he was traded. If he decides not to retire, the Broncos get a draft pick.

NGSeiler 03-03-2007 12:29 PM

Yep, my understanding is it's an updated deal. Very interested considering the Jeff Garcia situation.

Komp 03-03-2007 12:30 PM

how dysfunctional....

PalmerToCJ 03-03-2007 12:32 PM

They've got a chance at Quinn with two below average starters at QB already.

So what do they do? Add two old (one obviously declining in Plummer) QB's.

I'm not so sure about this.

Chucky 03-03-2007 12:33 PM

im confused

What? damn post length

Vince Lombardi 03-03-2007 12:46 PM

Wow, this is a strange situation...

Maybe it's a deal where if Jake retires the trade is basically voided, but if he has a change of heart then Tampa will own his rights and Denver will get that pick. If so it's not too bad of a move by Tampa.

That's pretty much how I understood the deal.

tjsunstein 03-03-2007 01:01 PM

This doesnt make any sense though. Simms, Plummer, Garcia, Gradkowski? I would hope that they trade one of them.

Tampa 2 4 life 03-03-2007 01:07 PM

The rumor is the bucs are gonna send Plummer to Houston.

ks_perfection 03-03-2007 01:15 PM

If we somehow managed to trade for plummer and than ship him to the Texans for more than what we gave up to get him it would be a stroke of genius. If Gruden actually does keep him its aboslutly moronic, even if we didn't trade for him.

We'd end up spending close to the same amount Manning makes on our 3 medicore QBs combined.

Booger 03-03-2007 01:18 PM

The Bucs would not keep Garcia, Plummer, and Simms. Pending the Plummer retirement, there has to be another trade in the works.

Simms perhaps???

ks_perfection 03-03-2007 01:22 PM

If we got rid of Simms we'd be left with 2 medicore old QBs. We'd have to be in the market again for a young QB for the future. Unless there was a really good deal, it doens't make much sense to get rid of the young one and keep 2 older ones.

Simms perhaps???

You never know. Gruden loves to collect QB's. After it became obvious how poor they were at the position last year he might keep them around to raise the level of competition during training camp and then use the odd man out as trade bait if another team is in trouble at the beginning of the season.

Let's hope for that.

Stash 03-03-2007 01:50 PM

Maybe the idea would be to trade Simms and then draft one of the top QB's in the first? I doubt this will actually happen, but I'm just throwing it out there.

cardsalltheway 03-03-2007 01:56 PM

I think they're trying to do something like what the Jets did last year and get more than two guys in there to battle for the starting spot to make the other guys work harder.

Chucky 03-03-2007 02:28 PM

heres a good article about it
