Courtney Brown

Broncos released him today after a failed physical. i dont question them releasing him but it seemed like he was finally establishing himself as a good defensive end after being a bust with #1 draft pick by the Browns.

Where do you think he will end up and do you think he has any potential?

PoopSandwich 03-19-2007 05:08 PM

He played well for the Browns, he just got hurt.

1 Cleveland Courtney Brown DE Penn State
2 Washington LaVar Arrington OLB Penn State
3 Washington Chris Samuels T Alabama
4 Cincinnati Peter Warrick WR Florida State

What a damn shame 3 busts and an average tackle....

He is still a bust

I'd like to see him sign with the Bucs, he is a good fit for our system and would come at a good price.

he's not really an edge rusher, so i wouldn't have thought he'd fit the T2 that well (at 285, i'd have thought he'd be more of a 3-tech in tampa, if anything) - but i'm sure you know your system better than i do. (no sarcasm!)

and maybe i'm biased, since i'd rather see him replace Kerney at LDE for the Falcons - assuming he passes a physical and isn't overly expensive.

You wouldn't think he is a Tampa 2 DE, but we have shown in the past that we like to have a speed rusher on one side (Rice) and a run-stopper on the other side (Spires). Brown would be an upgrade over Spires and he is a better pass rusher.

Freddy G 03-19-2007 06:09 PM

Yeah, 4.5 speed isn't an edge rusher?

Fact is, if Brown could have stayed healthy he would be the best DE in the league right now.

6'4 285 4.5 40in vert 38in arms...are you kidding guy was a freak, and if i recall correctly he had 5 sacks and a couple FF in 4.5 games one year before he got hurt.

He certainly isn't the player he once was (college days) the injuries have really slowed him down, but IF he could stay healthy he is one of a few guys who could actually play any scheme.

Arrington was a top 3 OLB for a few years. He had 12 sacks one year I think. He was dominant.

Well he failed his physical so.....

freebirdsrams02 03-19-2007 08:30 PM

I would love to see the Rams go after him but his price might be up to high since we have already made a lot of moves this off season.

draftguru151 03-19-2007 08:30 PM

I wouldn't mind Miami picking him up to back up Roth at DE if he can still play.

BroadwayJoe10 03-19-2007 09:20 PM

draftguru151, your a huge miami fan...do you know of any talks going on with david bowens?? cause i heard he was visiting with the jets and then 2 other teams but after that first week of FA i havn't heard a single thing about him...i just think hed make a decent 34 lb

princefielder28 03-19-2007 09:50 PM

He'd be a good backup for some team, but to expect him to start 16 games a year may be asking for a little much

fenikz 03-19-2007 10:21 PM

i wouldnt mind him backing up barry which means he will start like 8 games

I'm sure Coyer will have a lot of input. Brown's got all that potential but can't stay healthy to save his life. He'd be a good strong-side end over Spires for sure, and I'd be interested to see him work a bit on the inside on passing downs.

BlindSite 03-20-2007 01:33 AM

He'd well in carolina where he and rucker could rotate in and out with McClover. Rucker and Brown on passing downs, McClover in **** time.

He did well in situational pass rushing as both a DE and an OLB.

portermvp84 03-20-2007 09:40 AM

Did he do alright his first couple of seasons?
