Good idea. So here it is. Discuss apps, issues, phone recommendations etc.


I'd say to any android user, the first thing you should download is advanced task killer. And make sure you set it so that it automatically kills tasks every half hr. I have it set on safe mode at every half an hr, and it has dramatically improved my battery life.

I love my X and recommend it to anyone. I like the droids better than the iphone.

I haven't really gotten into any aps other than games, so if anyone has any suggestions post them please. I do already have advanced task killer and it's awesome.

For games, I recommend to everyone Angry Birds. **** is so addicting and there's like 300+ levels. Plus, we get it for free where as iPhone you have to pay for it. Suckers.

My gf just got one of these phones and it is the best thing ever.

Also, I know little to nothing about Linux, but isn't Android basically a stripped down version of Linux or something like that?

A 1 minute web search leads to all apps from the apple store free and an ap that is basically the app store except everything is free, just sayin, i have iphone4 and it works great for me but basically i got it because att has the best service in my area if not for that def wouldve gone droid

Hmm interesting. But it is the full version of Angry Birds? Because there's a beta version (free on both iPhone and Droid) and a full version (supposedly costs $ on iPhone, free on Droid).

Also, I downloaded the ESPN score zone thing because it was free and I can now just have a list of my teams on my home screen. Is there any aps better than this for just being able to quickly look at scores?

Not all of you will think this is cool, but I like it, and its pretty useful. There is an app, Rain Alarm, that notifies you with vibrations how close, intense, and how big an area of rain/snow/ whatever is coming towards you. One vibration means basically nothing, but it goes up to 5 on my phone, and that means its either raining on you, or about to. I like it because it keeps the weather from sneaking up on me. It also has a radar, with zoom and animation for you to watch if you want to look at an actual image as well.

Just picked up a Galaxy S (Canada is lame for not getting newer phones sooner). I am loving it so far.

I love my Droid X too, BBD. It's so amazing. I used the GPS on it last week to help me get to Giants stadium successfully. Such a life saver.

Doodle Jump is a really fun game on there for 99 cents btw.

I've used GPS so many times whenever I've gone to places I've never been, it has kept me from getting off track so many times

the emulators are pretty good, but i cant get to grips using touch screen as a controller its too much of an effort...anyone tried them out?

I'll second the Angry Birds rec, there's a couple of pretty good snooker/pool games on there but i cant rem the names. def looking out for some apps other people are enjoying.

I got the HTC Desire HD.

I've had the Samsung Vibrant for the past couple months and I love it. Battery Life is a ***** though.

I thought this thread was going to be a thread for CJ to organize his evil Android Minions. Well sense I'm here... I have a G1 and I'm thinking about getting the G2, does anybody have it and is it infinitely more awesome than the G1?

I'll be getting an Epic next month. Any recommended apps? Obviously I like games, but most-interested in personal organizer apps. Preferably free.

I want a Droid X however I'm already a verizon user and am not due for an upgrade. Is there any place I can get one for less than $500?

I tried newegg.com but my contract is not up for extension until next year.

I think you can usually sign a 2-year contract even if you're already on a contract. They just want to keep you on the contract...they don't care how many contracts you sign to get new phones...
