Does anyone/has anyone else here coach(ed) at all? What positions? what did you guys run, how did you do?


Im actually applying for the head job at the local high school. i was an assistant there this year but we kind of sucked, it was only our second year as a varsity program, and the head guy retired so I decided to go for it. I'm probably be a bit of a long shot to get the job, but Im very pumped to give it a shot.

Never coached but I'd like to one day when I settle down in one place.

I've never been a legitimate coach. But I have coached flag football for 5th-8th graders at my church. My team had a pair of really fast twins so I just ran vertical routes all day long.

Ive been an assistant/pitching coach for a baseball team that was consisted of mainly freshman and sophomore in high school and have also been a head coach for that age group.

Coached the Quarterbacks at the local high school here in town the last two years and hope to get a better paying gig next year when Im done playing baseball.

when I do (well, maybe now it's an "if") get a job as a teacher when I graduate, I want to be a basketball coach. Idk how one goes about getting that job, but my goal is be a middle school teacher and basketball coach at a local high school.

this could actually be a really cool thread for advice, ideas, stories etc.

Main advice I would give is make a ton of friends/connections and use them. A lot of people are kind of stubborn and want to make it on their own and all, but if you have resources available to you, use them. I have a chance to get into coaching college baseball next year because of a guy I used to live with who played here. I have absolutely no problem getting into coaching that way because its all about who ya know these days. I feel like I would be a great college coach, but thats not what gets ya college coaching jobs these days.
