Osweiler In Round 1 After Pro Day?

http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/03/30/did-...o-first-round/

This could make draft day real interesting and really effect where Tannehill is drafted.

I pity the fool who takes Osweiler in the 1st. I like the guys tools but I wouldn't touch him until the 3rd at the earliest. I just don't think he was a good enough player on the field to even warrant 1st round consideration.

gpngc 03-31-2012 12:51 AM

Him and Colt McCoy on the same roster would be hilarious.

edgrenade 03-31-2012 05:15 AM

Osweiler is worse than Gabbert.

That is all you need to know....

The Tom Condon Effect. If you are a qb and you can afford to get on board with CAA why wouldnt you?

FUNBUNCHER 03-31-2012 09:11 AM

You can't draft a QB in the first round purely on spec.

Someone should have told that to Jacksonville:evil_laugh:

This cannot be said enough.

Cam Newton?

Still better than Foles.

Eight of nine teams surveyed by NFL Network's Charley Casserly call Arizona State QB Brock Osweiler a fourth-round prospect.
NFL.com's Gil Brandt made waves when he said he expected Osweiler to be a first-round pick following his Friday Pro Day, but it appears the sentiment is not shared by a large majority of the league. Casserly said teams were concerned about Osweiler's decision making and accuracy, as well as his tendency to take too many sacks and "questionable instincts." A "couple of scouts" told the Arizona Republic's Kent Somers Friday they could see Osweiler going as early as round two, but it's extremely unlikely he turns himself into a day-one pick.

No way he should be a first round pick and I liked him last year. He made a mistake by not staying for his senior year but with the coaching change I guess it made more sense.

He is raw but has alot of tools but first round is way to early. I would take him in the third as a developmental prospect.

Good to see there's some sanity, but it only takes 1.

Why should a QB needy franchise take a risk on a talented QB prospect late in the first when they can take a risk on a less important position? If teams like the Dolphins and Browns keep avoiding talented QBs, they'll eventually have one fall in their lap. They might have to wait another decade or more, but at least they'll be able to draft lots of WRs, RBs and lineman with the early first round picks they'll have every year.

i'd rather have osweiler in the second round than tannehill with the 4th overall pick

Brothgar 03-31-2012 11:27 AM

Personally I think Pro Days are the most useless tools in the evaluation process.

CDCB14 03-31-2012 11:35 AM

It's funny how people think this dude is now a first round pick because he looked good throwing against air. Really? Get any guy who played QB in high school less than 20 years ago and he would look good against air too. The draft process really does baffle me. I think they should move it up to the beginning of March and move up free agency to only a few weeks after the super bowl so all of this garbage doesn't get brought up.

I mean.. really? The dude woke up, threw on some shorts, and threw some nice passes to WR's against air and goes from a 3rd-4th to a 1st...?

 :gtfo: :frog: :loco: :explode:  :out:

49erNation85 03-31-2012 12:01 PM

Lam reporters don't know how to scout players. Like every one else I like his tools but he wasn't that great of QB. I'm sure Jacksonville will pick him up .

STsACE 03-31-2012 12:14 PM

I still think he gets drafted ahead of where he should. Someone will reach for him in the 2nd round. He really shouldn't be drafted until at least the 3rd round. And I still believe the Browns are one of the teams that will reach for him at #37 or trade back into the 2nd to grab him:deadhorse:

Ryan Mallet > Oswell and he was drafted in the 3rd round had every thing minus some off field issues. But he landed on the pats so boring he won't see the field until Brady retires .

Also good to point out that those were NFL teams who made the 4th round comment. We dont need to imply that Casserly knows what he's talking about.

RaiderNation 03-31-2012 02:05 PM

He has a slight chance to maybe go in the late 2nd, but I see him more as a 3rd round QB.

Menardo75 03-31-2012 02:45 PM

With how overdrafted QB's are becoming, seeing someone trade up into the late first to grab him wouldn't shock me.
