The PI game :P
BIG 10
ACC A battle of freakish pass rush vs. probably the best OL in the contest. Who win's out here? The secondary of the ACC is tough but are they better than Brady with a better than average receiver corps? Can the above average secondary of the Big 10 contain the beasts the ACC has at WR to a low enough score that Brady can rally and win the scoring battle? Can Hali and Woodly put enough pressure on Rivers to disrupt him? We will just have to let the results tell us |
The second round matchups look much better than the first.
The Big 10 has the best offensive line. Nobody is going to beat that line. Brady is also a hug advantage here. But that is where it stops. You could argue that the Johnsons are the two best receivers in the game. Gore is a better back than Green by far. The SEC has a good defensive line, but the ACC's is better. |
ACC but it wasn't by much.
|
I absolutely love Brady behind that offensive line but the Big 10 secondary can't come close to slowing down that receiving corps and it's not like Philip Rivers is just some guy either.
ACC's front 7 is also pretty damn dominant. I give the Big 10 the advantage at QB and O-line and that's pretty much it. |
This is a tough one for me. I don't think it's even conceivable what Brady would do behind that line and it's not a bad receiver corps.
We could postulate that Brady with that kind of time and those receivers would be unstoppable, considering what he has done with worse receivers and lines. I don't think it would be impossible for the big 10 to win this. In the end though, I had to go with the ACC. As much as it pains me, they are just too damn good on both sides of the ball |
pierre thomas should be the back over green, well, not sure if pierre should be the back but greene sure as hell shouldnt
|
I went ACC but it was close.

I'm going Big 10. Tom Brady carries that team on offense. That offensive line is stellar. And their pass rush with Watt, Suh, Woodley and Hali would be great. Plus Ray Edwards, Cliff Avril, Shaun Phillips and Ryan Kerrigan had you done any research at all.
And no offense to you but I don't think you're doing a great job putting these teams together. Why don't you make note of Rashard Mendenhall and Pierre Thomas? That changes things. Why are you listing Woodley and Hali as linebackers in a 4-3 defense? Where are Laurinaitis, Greenway, Posluszny, Sean Lee, Dan Connor, Hawk and Angerer? Where are Charles Woodson and Antoine Winfield? You don't think Ryan Pickett and Domatko Peko could make the team? Did you forget Purdue existed? Drew Brees, Ray Edwards, Shaun Phillips, Cliff Avril, Bernard Pollard, Ryan Kerrigan and Dustin Keller? Michael Robinson is a beast at FB? Barry Cofield and Luis Castillo? Mario Manningham, Leon Hall and Alan Branch? Bryan Bulaga and Karl Klug? Kelvin Hayden? |
I voted ACC. In my own opinion it is more one sided than other people think.
|
Had you listed Charles Woodson, Leon Hall or Antoine Winfield over Gamble that changes things. Same with Cliff Avril over Will Smith. Make it:
QB: Brady RB: Mendenhall / Greene FB: Robinson TE: Daniels WR: Lloyd / Holmes / Manningham LT: Thomas LG: Nicks C: Mangold RG: Yanda RT: Long LE: Avril DT: Watt DT: Suh DE: Woodley SLB: Greenway MLB: Sean Lee WLB: Navorro Bowman CB: Vontae Davis / Charles Woodson / Leon Hall SS: Whitner FS: Jenkins Big ten wins. |

Why Greene and not Wells?

And are you really going to pretend that having Gamble over Woodson, Hall and Winfield and having Greene over Mendenhall are mistakes. And missing Sean Lee, Poz and Greenway are pretty big omissions. |

Phillip Rivers + Miami 01 = best team ever.

As for players who shouldn't even be considered... Connor, Hawk, Pickett, Robinson (FB wasn't even listed) Bulaga, Klug and that is just the start. You can make arguments for some sure but to go on a rant of these people not being included is crazy. Sure maybe if you factor in depth the Big 10 might win more handily (Didn't do enough research to make a decision) but the fact is that is not the parameters that Sloopy as made for this. |
I think the ACC team wins by a pretty fair amount. That team is stacked.
|
Miami plus a good NFL QB > all

In fact, I almost put Woodson at safety but I felt that people would poo poo at that. Quote:
Letting people interchange players could mean everyone basing their decisions off of completely different teams than anyone else. Quote:

Even still, Navorro Bowman and David Harris are the best ILB from this division. Bowman and Harris as 3-4 ILB > JL as a 4-3 ILB Quote:

Pickett almost made it but had to make a judgement call. Quote:

Furthermore I liked they idea of Brady behind that line with those receivers. He is a big reason that an argument could be made for the big ten in this matchup Quote:

Also Bixby, there are just as many guys who could be listed for the ACC that weren't listed, the point is that I had to narrow it down to a starting lineup without back ups
|
I'll be a Big 10 homer, but honestly, only reason is Brady + O-line vs. that secondary.
