Top-10 Slot Receivers

Rank the top 10 slot receivers in the league..... Go.

Bulldogs 07-22-2012 10:45 PM

Can't think of ten off the top of my head.

1. Wes Welker
2. Percy Harvin
3. Victor Cruz
4. Marques Colston
5. Eric Decker

BmoreBlackByrdz 07-23-2012 07:42 AM

IDK if the Phins use him in the slot much anymore but Davone Bess has definitely got to be up there.

K Train 07-23-2012 08:16 AM

colston? idk i dont think id count him as a slot receiver.

I expect antonio bornw to play a lot of slot in haleys offense with sanders out wide across from wallace....but the clear best is welker

bigbluedefense 07-23-2012 11:16 AM

Colston plays the slot a lot. The Saints move everyone around. What I find interesting is how the Saints basically run the same 5 passing plays over and over again, just out of different formations and with different guys lined up at different positions.

No one attacks the seams more than the Saints.

I'm having trouble putting anyone above these three, though I'm sure somebody is slipping my mind. I would probably rate Cruz a better slot WR for sake of the question and Harvin a better overall player.

edit: what about TE's that basically are slot WR's? Because Aaron Hernandez is pretty high up there on my list if that's the case.

Not to mention Jimmy Graham, who plays out of the slot an absolute ton.

bigbluedefense 07-23-2012 11:29 AM

If Percy could just stay healthy, he would be a beast. When he's a full go, he's a matchup nightmare.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a lot of guys. Danny Amendola? Davone Bess? Steve Smith (USC one if he's healthy)?, Doug Baldwin? Emmanuel Sanders?

RCAChainGang 07-23-2012 12:05 PM

I still have hope Austin Collie can be healthy and contribute like he was.

K Train 07-23-2012 12:08 PM

i think hester and bennett could be nightmares with marshall and jeffrey working the outside.

manny sanders is gonna be a good one, but i like brown in the slot better. Manny is fragile and brown is fearless

I want to see how our former WR Steve Smith does for the rams if healthy. I will be looking forward to see how he does.

K Train 07-23-2012 02:51 PM

cobb could be sick too

Took the words out of my mouth. He's going to have a good year.

D-Unit 07-24-2012 03:23 AM

Miles Austin plays there often.

SuperPacker 07-24-2012 04:56 AM

Some more names:

Harry Douglas
Titus Young
Jeremy Kerley
Andre Roberts
Lance Moore
Preston Parker

themaninblack 07-24-2012 05:32 PM

If Shipley even makes the rooster I could see him having a pretty big year from the slot.

EDIT: if he doesn't I expect a lot from Sanu and/or Hawkins in that spot as well.

SuperPacker 07-24-2012 05:39 PM

I like Danny Coale for the Cowboys this year! He could be the starting slot receiver by the end of the year.

Ding. The addition of adding Jimmy Graham to the offense made it even more scary too.

I wish Cameron had his head out of his ass so Boldin can be on these lists.

Huh? What are you talking about? Boldin does play slot when we go to 3 wide. We don't run a whole lot of 3 wide because our 2nd TE happens to be better than our 3rd WR.

whatadai 08-04-2012 03:07 AM

You guys forgot Aaron Hernandez, Austin Collie, Doug Baldwin, and Danny Amendola

FUNBUNCHER 08-04-2012 03:09 AM

Watch Santana Moss this season.

Yeah, he's going to work his way up this list in 2012. Hard for a rookie to get a lot of playing time considering the Packers' receiver depth (25 catches, 375 yards), but he looked electric when he got the ball. He's also reportedly had another strong start to camp.
