An Incommensurable 3 Round Mock.

Due to no actual games played, I divided NFL teams into 3 parts. First group is consist of 7 non playoff teams. Second group is consist of 9 least likely playoff teams. Third group is consist of 9 more likely playoff teams. Final group is consist of 7 playoff contenders. I used the list randomizer from internet to set up each group in the order so don't waste your time barking at me about where the F should your team be.

I tried not to overuse underclassmen prospects to avoid any more complexion for 2nd and 3rd rounds. There are few prospects who I think will skyrocket into a higher value and few prospects going in an opposition direction.

Decent Chiefs draft I guess.

derza222 08-16-2012 10:50 AM

Do you have the Jets switching to a 4-3? The Te'o pick confuses me.

OSUGiants17 08-16-2012 11:16 AM

Round 1- Short isn't a bad pick, but with Okafor, Star and Hankins on the board he is a terrible pick.

Round 2- We are set at LB finally. Herz looks like our future MIKE and Williams is great on the outside, plus we have Boley, Blackburn, Jones and Paysinger. We need OT there.

Round 3- OG is the one OL position where we are set with Snee, Boothe and Petrus. Give us a DB there.

Bixby (Thumper) 08-16-2012 11:41 AM

A WR is something I can safely say the Eagles do not need. Like, at all.

JPF 08-16-2012 11:46 AM

Nothing really against the Panthers picks, but it's hard to see them not coming out of the first two rounds with an OT.

Otah cut after a failed trade; Gross talking about "winding down his career"; penalty magnet Byron Bell being the open day starter; questionable at best depth.

jth1331 08-16-2012 01:11 PM

Am I seriously the first to post how he has Matt Barkley going in the 2nd round to the Cowboys, and Landry Jones not in the first 3 rounds?

Wrt. the Patriots draft:

Star Lotulelei is a great pick in the late first. Value is good and he'd fit in nicely regardless of scheme. However, I think that BB will have a hard time passing on Lattimore, Marquess Wilson and Chance Warmack especially in this situation. John Simon is a terrible player. I feel like him as I did with Melvin Ingram this year. He's the type of player who'll end up being overdrafted because he plays with a great motor on a talented defense and constantly gets matched up with the worst offensive linemen the other team has. He just flat out sucks. Great athlete, not a good football player imo. Kenny Vaccaro should be a slam dunk in this situation. Lastly, I like Tavarres King. He doesn't fit the usual mold of a Patriot receiver so I don't expect BB to take him in the third.

I like the positions you have us taking, but the players are a bit off imo. I still like Lotulelei though...

RCAChainGang 08-16-2012 02:24 PM

Chris Faulk isn't close to good enough to go 1 overall. He's a late first or early second at this point. Props on doing a mock though.

TitanHope 08-16-2012 08:41 PM

Dallas Thomas isn't a 2nd RD talent. Lots of experience, but he may lose the LT spot to Antonio Richardson this season.

It's Eric Reid from LSU. Not Ed Reed.

As for the Titans, they've shown they don't value interior linemen early, so a Guard in the early 2nd RD may be unrealistic. And I don't think they go WR in the 3rd RD either. DE in the 1st RD is great.

Steelers Draft

1. Robert Lester, FS - Looks like the only decent safety at Alabama last year. Also hits a position of need as it appears Goodell/NFL Owners are determined to have the Steelers play in Denver EVERY single year and Ryan Clark can't go because of his Sickle Cell Trait.

2. Keenan Davis, WR - Big Hawkeye fan. Davis is extremely raw still, but he possesses some freakish physical talent. I don't know how Iowa was able to recruit him. There's another younger receiver on the team that is just as talented. Anyway...if Davis puts up decent production this year, he could very well be an early second round pick. I wouldnt have problem taking him at the end of that round.

3. Larry Warford, OG - Well, a very ho-hum pick for me. But I do see a need. We have Starks/Essex to man the starting tackle positions until Gilbert and Adams are ready to take over. Pouncey isn't going anywhere, and DeCastro seems to be the next right to left guard convert of the future. Another guard to push Legursky and Foster for backup and possible future starter wouldn't be a horrible idea. I'd rather take Graham Pocic from Illinois. He's capable of playing both center and guard...and with Pouncey's ankles, it wouldn't hurt to have a guy that can swing over to center if ole Maurkice gets injured again.

That's just nitpicking though...Overall, a very thoughtful draft for the Steelers. I wouldn't be unhappy with that draft. Just a thought though...when was the last time three safeties were taken in the first round? 2007...FOUR were taken. You'd think with the rising importance of the safety position, there'd be more safeties drafted early. Guess the draft process hasn't caught up with the trend. *shrugs*

You need to recheck your post before calling me out. lol. I got ONLY first name wrong.

I overlooked Thomas because there are not many teams at bottom of the first round are finesse. Saints and Lions are ideal for him at LT and maybe Texans for G. Saints have Bushrod and Lions have Reiff. Texans have Wade Smith for one more season.

I thought not taking G in early rounds is Jeff Fisher's thing. Cooper is making a case for 1st round grade so he is basically a BPA for Titans in 2nd round. However, I already make a note for my next mock.

thanks.

Right now, Faulk is my top OT for senior class and for the overall number one, it is either QB or OT. I expect Brennen Williams will become a legit top 5 after this season ends.

Bill Bellicheck's best friend is coaching OSU so it is my only reason. lol. What kind of receiver BB seeks for? Ryan Swope type?

I did not know Panthers lost 3rd round pick until I started to work on the round. I could give them OT in 2nd round had I finished the traded pick marks before starting the mock.

So was DT and DE in the past. Eagles stock up too many young players so I have no idea which position has weakest top 3. Maclin would become a UFA after 2013 season so I based it off.

Star and Hankins are run stuffers. Short has a better all round DT. Okafor could make a sense, though.

ArkyRamsFan 08-17-2012 06:24 PM

Yoto:

I like some of your thoughts concerning the Rams but just can't see Knile Davis being a top 10 pick. Heck, if we are picking that high again then another Razorback, Tyler Wilson, may be the guy...

Also, the Rams have huge needs at OLB and Safety. Would rather see someone to fill these needs in rounds 2 and 3.

SickwithIt1010 08-17-2012 06:55 PM

I stopped reading when I saw you didnt have Barkley in the first round. I wouldnt be surprised if he isnt the first QB taken, but 2nd round?

soybean 08-17-2012 10:25 PM

QBs these days are going much earlier than projected. Unless USC has like a 7-5 record with a low point total, there's no way Barkley would go 2nd.

I mean he's a much better prospect than Tannehill, Weeden & Gabbert.

Yeah...you can pretty much be sure that there's gonna be at least 4 QBs to go in the first round. The position is over-inflated with talent. And its not like its been that way for years either.

College QBs get to go to camps and are trained by professionals as soon as they declare for the draft. Its no longer a "risky investment" to throw a first round pick at a QB. I almost feel bad for teams that have a vested franchise quarterback...its just too easy anymore. Newton, Stafford...hell, even Gabbs is coming around.

prock 08-18-2012 02:07 PM

Receiver, DE, OT, good set of picks for the Vikings.

Don Vito 08-18-2012 03:08 PM

Lotulelei would be an amazing pick up for the Pats, he could be long gone by then but he is a perfect fit.

I am not quite as sour on Simon as Razor but I do agree that he is not the best fit. He like Ingram in that he is a compact athlete whos fit at the next level is questionable, but he is a lot stronger than Ingram. I really don't know how he would fit for us though, but I think he will be a pretty good player for someone.

wicket 08-19-2012 06:58 AM

logical saints picks although i guess we wont know where the saints will pick at all until they actually play a few games
