Willie Davis - CB - Utah St
I was the fortunate benefactor of watching Utah St several times this year. This guy is a potential first rounder. He has great roll and recover skills, good jam skills, turns his head at the right time. Tackles with authority. His battle with Quinton Patton was epic, Quinton had a lot of receptions very little YAC, no TDs. Patton is another possible first rounder. He is a very physical CB and also did a very admirable job vs. Cody Hoffman

I am not sure if we see first round for Davis, but there's no denying he has strong man-to-man abilities and he's someone who could easily go in the Top 50. I was at the Utah State game against Wisconsin this year and Jared Abredderis didn't even manage a catch while the rest of the Badgers offense also struggled to get anything going. For my personal rankings Jordan Poyer is the #1 corner and Banks and Trufant are close for the #2 spot among seniors. Will Davis isn't far behind those two.

Davis is one of the corners that could be in line to make a lot of noise in Mobile especially in the one on ones, really blankets bigger or smaller/faster receivers.

So true, it is very circumstantial for CBs after those top 3 guys are off the board. Depends on scheme greatly as to whom is taken of the board 3rd.

Reports out of Mobile suggest that Davis struggled at times with vertical receivers and his deep speed might be an issue...any observations to back this up?

I don't think Davis athletic ability overall needs to be questioned; he is a long, fast corner. However, I have noticed on tape that his footwork is sloppy and he struggles to flip his hips. I just don't think he is what he is hyped up to be overall. His play is very inconsistent overall.
