Mock 2 with us picking later in the round.
Bengals 2013 Mock Draft
1. Eric Reid Safety LSU An immediate upgrade over Crocker and a starter from day one. He is the best safety in the draft and he fills a position of need. 2A. Alex Okafor DE Texas I think we resign M. Johnson but R. Geathers has never produced to the level of his contract. If we can resign W. Gilberry and draft Okafor we will be set to let Geather walk. 2B. Khaseem Greene OLB Rutgers The man is a tackling machine. Big East defensive player of the year as a junior and followed that up with a just as impressive senior season. He can come right in and replace Lawson. Move Burfict to MLB and have Howard on the other side. 3. Marcus Lattimore RB South Carolina This might not be a popular pick around here but we are solid at some many other positions that we can afford to take a risk here. Willis McGahee was drafted in the first round and had a very productive career after a similar injury. Let’s go for some upside and hope that we get a first round talent out of him. 4. Terry Hawthorne CB Illinois His man is a flat out athlete. Rated as the #1 WR prospect coming out of high school. He is the best athlete when he is on the field. He returns punts & kickoffs for Illinois. Bye-Bye Tate! Say goodbye to Allen and Newman, plus Clements isn’t getting any younger. 5. Tavarres King WR Georgia 6-1 200 lbs King will fight for the final WR spot on the roster or replace a guy like Binns on the practice squad. Another Georgia Bulldog for us to groom. 6. Dustin Hopkins Kicker FSU Hopkins is the best kicker I have seen in the last 3-4 drafts. Nugent is currently being out kicked by a kicker off the street. It is time for a long term solution. 7. Travis Howard CB Ohio State University Howard is a long-rangy 6-1 200 lbs CB who will provide us with some youth at the CB position. He will start his career on the practice squad but provides upside to our aging secondary. What do you think? |
I could deal with this especially if we get Lattimore in the 3rd assuming he's healthy. King would also be a nice addition in the later rounds. He's got some potential we could let Urban develop.

Here's my take.
1st. Jonathan Banks CB MissSt 2nd. John Simon DE tOSU 2nd. Micah Hyde S Iowa 3rd. Ray Graham RB Pitt 4th. Tyrann Mathieu CB/S 5th. Ried Fragel OT tOSU 5th. Latavius Murray RB UCF 6th. Etiene Sabino LB tOSU 7th. Tyrann Mathieu CB/S LSU |
Ellington might be worth a look at RB for us. Seen him play a lot and he has really quick feet that gets him positive yards most of the time, not Spiller fast but decent enough speed. Would be a good compliment to BenJ. Obviously a bit biased with this pick, check him out on Jan 1 against LSU and let me know what you think.
Lattimore could be special although I am not sure how long he would last in the NFL after going thru 2 significant knee surgeries. His running style would be perfect in our division, definite risk health wise but offers more upside than Ellington. Bernard would be another speed back to consider. |
I don't see Lattimore going that high. At this point I could see 7th Round or Undrafted for him with his consistent injuries

It's like a foregone conclusion that the Bengals are gonna pick Mathieu, kinda like the way Scott Wright feels the need to point out that we don't have problems drafting people with "character concerns" in every single mock draft since the beginning of time. We get it.
