Senior Bowl Over, Raiders Draft Drafted!

Here's what I think is very possible at this point in time. Raiders are in a very good position at #3. There appears to be a very good chance that either Luke Joeckel or Geno Smith will be available at our pick which would be attractive to other teams such as Phily, Arizona and Buffalo. I hereby mock a trade with Arizona for their 1st, 2nd, and 5th in 2013 and a 5th in 2014. With that, the Raiders draft:

Round I- DE Ziggy Ansah. Raiders get that difference maker in the front 4.

Round II- DT Kawann Short. Short will start along with budding star Desmond Bryant to creat havoc in opposing backfields.

Round III- OG Kyle Long. I was unsure of him at first, but this guy looked great at LG in the Senior Bowl. With his lack of arm length, this looks like a hand in glove fit to replace Cooper Carlise!

Round IV- MLB Kevin Reddick. Dennis Allen reportedly loves the guy after coaching him in the Senior Bowl. He fills the need at MLB after McClain pending dismissal.

Round V- RT Menelik Watson. This guy is a a perfect fit as the Raiders need a replacement for the aging and oft injured Kahliff Barnes.

Round VI- S Cooper Tayor. This guy made an impression on scouts in the East West Shrine game. Still, a 6'5" 230 pound white safety isn't going to get the benefit of the doubt and I see him being available late in the draft. We haven't had an enforcer type at S for a long time.

Round VII- CB Marcus Cromartie. I don't know much about him other than he is 6'1" and his last name is Cromartie. Both positve factor's when it comes to DBs! I also know he had 12 pass break ups last year.

Round VII- OLB Cameron Lawrence. The defensive overhaul continues. Depth at LB is a huge concern. Lawrence displayed very high production breaking 120 tackles in each of his last two seasons.

Also, keep in mind the Raiders will likely have two 6th rounders coming at compensation picks.

Kevin Reddick and Menelik Watson are both likely to be gone in the first 64 picks.

With Watson, I admit I was sort of hoping, although I don't think he will go as high as the top 64. Reddick? I think he could well be there at the top of the 4th. He isn't a physical freak, so he will have good combine numbers, not great ones.

Sorry, but with the rise of Fisher, trading the #3 pick so a team can get Joeckel just isn't in the cards. Nobody is likely to give up picks for a shot at Joeckel and if there is a trade, Oakland will have to discount the trade value and likely won't get much more than a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

That's actually a good draft by the Raiders. They should sign you up.

Fine with me considering we don't have a 2nd round pick. But if Geno is on the board, there is no doubt in my mind that Zona and Buffalo would bit to move up.

Thanks. I've been trying to get them to hire me!

Pretty meh tbh.

Ansah looked like ass in LB drills, and that's what he'd likely play in Oakland as we transition to a more 3-4 oriented defense.

Short doesn't play hard every down, so I'm all but certain that takes him off Reggie's wishlist.

Long...eh. Maybe.

Reddick doesn't sound too promising.

The biggest reason Reddick has been a faller this season is his questionable effort on the field, too often giving up on plays once engaged and going at half-speed if the play isn't run directly at him. He rarely leaves the field so some of it might be fatigue, but inconsistent urgency and motor is a large concern that will force NFL teams to think twice on draft day.

Definitely not a Reggie kind of guy.

Definitely not a Reggie kind of guy.

Who cares how Ansah looks in LB drills. If he is a 3-4 LB, he is rushing the passer, if he is a 4-3 DE he is rushing the passer. He is physically better than most OTs and his technique will improve with coaching and reps. JPP had very little experience when he came out as well, but went in the first half of the draft because he could impact games.

As far as short, I don't know if he doesn't play hard every down or if you even have first hand knowledge of such and occurrance, but I know that he was pretty much unblockable going up against the top interior lineman of this year's draft outside of Warmack. I'm not exactly taking him off the board because of the dreaded "He takes plays off" tag.

As far as Reddick, I am not supper high on him, but Allen seems to like him and I have him going in the 4th. I wouldn't pick him with a high third myself.

Since mine is "meh", how would you change things to make the mock bright and shiney?

The first thing I'd do is put it in the proper forum...but that's just me.

Meaning the Raiders discussion board? Okay, mods, please move this discussion to the Raiders board as Abaddon has directed.

There, now who would you pick that's better?
