Where does Marcus Lattimore go?

Who does everyone think Marcus Lattimore will get drafted by? I think it has to be a team with an established RB that will allow him to basically redshirt his rookie year.

I'm not a Chiefs fan but I feel they could be a very good fit.

Matthew Jones 03-28-2013 10:55 PM

I'm not sure he'll have to redshirt, or even begin the season on the PUP list. How many times does a player tear his ACL nowadays and miss any significant amount of playing time beyond the initial season? It seems like being "way ahead of schedule" and making "an incredible recovery" are the norm rather than the exception these days.

Late 3rd to late 4th.

Pat Sims 90 03-28-2013 11:38 PM

Late 5th to Undrafted

Kyle472 03-29-2013 12:00 AM

2nd or 3rd to the 49ers.

SuperPacker 03-29-2013 12:04 AM

If you could guarantee he would go back to before his last injury, late first/early second would be about where he landed. I don't see how he goes in the 2nd round after the injury.

You don't even know if he's going to be the same RB, let alone last in the NFL. You don't spend a 2nd round pick on that, especially when it's at a position which is so easy to fill.

BallerT1215 03-29-2013 12:42 AM

5th Rnd

I'd be shocked to see him go before round 4. I love the kid's attitude and work ethic, but as we all know this is a business.

holt_bruce81 03-29-2013 12:55 AM

I'd be shocked to see him still available after day two.

K Train 03-29-2013 08:46 AM

2nd round, to the steelers :-)

That's what I see as well. 2nd Rd Pick by the 49ers, he sits behind Gore/James for a year and gets very limited carries, and then his role picks up year 2. 49ers pick up some secondary help with their first two picks. Lattimore hopes for a McGahee type of rebirth.

Not a 49ers fan

Don Vito 03-29-2013 08:55 AM

49ers would be a great fit, Gore had similar concerns coming out of Miami. Plus he wouldn't be rushed into anything and the Niners have the luxury of being able to take a risk on him. Seems like a perfect match if you ask me. Gore is getting old and they have a great OL, Lattimore and James would be great compliments to eachother.

Don Vito 03-29-2013 08:57 AM

I have always been a huge Lattimore fan. Would love him on the Pats but I don't see that happening because we already have some young backs that the staff likes. I wouldn't complain if we gave him a look but we don't have much for mid round selections and I bet he'll be gone by the 4th/5th.

farfromforgotten 03-29-2013 10:04 AM

Depending on how the rest of the draft goes, I wouldn't mind my 49ers taking him in the 4th.

bornnraisedwhodat 03-29-2013 10:30 AM

3rd or 4th, maybe to the Lions.

keylime_5 03-29-2013 10:42 AM

I would be surprised if he went before round 4. I would guess late round 4 maybe. His tape this year wasn't that good because he wasn't all the way back from his torn ACL. Add another blown out knee on top of that and the position he plays which has a short shelf life/high injury potential as it is - the guy isn't gonna be in high demand.

K Train 03-29-2013 11:00 AM

i think these 4th/5th round comments are insane.

Hes a second round pick, could see a team doing something a little crazy and taking him in the late first

That would be insane in my mind.

keylime_5 03-29-2013 12:43 PM

a runningback (short shelf life, less impactful position in today's pass happy NFL than in past) coming off of 2 major knee surgeries in back to back years, who is a power runner that takes contact, looked kinda meh as a junior following one traumatic knee injury isn't gonna go that high. 4 or 5 sounds right. Maybe if he looked amazing last season preinjury, but he didn't, he was a step slow. How do you think his knee will hold up by the time the guy is 28 or 29?

Lattimore is schedule to visit with New England soon; although that doesn't necessarily indicate interest in drafting him, it's still interesting.

Hurricanes25 03-29-2013 02:22 PM

I ultimately think he goes in round 4 to a good team that can afford to take him. Think Seattle, Green Bay and San Fran, etc.

oh it would be, but i wouldnt be surprised...i thought tebow as a first rounder was insane...lattimore in the first would be a team comfortable with the investment for next season

just think though...i know its a RB and a WR, but to me if you are a coach that doesnt let rookies play much anyway, theres no difference from taking lattimore in the first and taking a guy like AJ jenkins and having him sit all year

the difference to me is Lattimore is a legit top 10 talent, i do think his agent is doing a great job...the next month will tell a lot, but ive said all along if mcgahee can do it theres no reason to think lattimore cant. 3rd round is his floor
